Role: Senior Accountant - Transaction Accounting
Salary: $120,000 - $135,000/annually + bonus

Location: Remote (must be East Coast) + 25% travel

About the role: This role supports a growing PE-backed platform that partners with established real estate companies throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Senior Accountant, specializing in transaction and integration accounting, will serve as a key contributor in the accounting function supporting newly acquired businesses. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this individual will work closely with internal leadership and specialized external advisors to learn and apply complex acquisition accounting concepts from due diligence through full onboarding into the finance organization. This opportunity is ideal for someone with early exposure to transaction work who is motivated to advance into a technical subject?matter expert role within a dynamic, acquisition?driven environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with preparing opening balance sheets, purchase price allocations, working capital analyses, and other acquisition?related schedules in collaboration with consultants and internal leadership.
  • Contribute to the preparation of valuation?related entries, including goodwill, intangible assets, and contingent consideration, consistent with ASC 805.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation related to merger and acquisition activity.
  • Build standardized procedures and internal guidance as the transaction accounting function evolves.
  • Partner with finance teams at newly acquired businesses to align accounting structures, including chart of accounts mapping and transition into the organization's ERP environment.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of financial workflows for acquired entities.
  • Assist in preparing consolidated GAAP financial statements and workpapers that incorporate transaction activity.
  • Provide documentation and analyses for annual audit and tax work related to business combinations.
  • Represent the finance team professionally when working with partner companies, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex accounting matters clearly and effectively.

Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within public accounting or a private?equity?backed environment.
  • Foundational exposure to acquisition accounting; understanding of ASC 805 is highly beneficial.
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage workload in a remote setting, and quickly learn technical concepts.
  • Clear, professional communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Yardi) is helpful.
  • CPA preferred.
