Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Principal Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer positions must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.



Responsibilities

    Independently designs, builds, and performs a variety of testing . Will mentor and direct the work of less seasoned colleagues. Typically represents a complete line of testing of all complexities.
  • Able to generate test reports and procedures. Is able to tackle and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Able to identify, define, conceptualize, and analyze technical problems and issues that frequently extend into other technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrates originality and creativity in the application of specialized skills, practices, and knowledge.
  • Able to initiate, plan, and execute substantial projects and investigations employing experiential knowledge, intuition, and judgment to set direction.y
  • Familiarity with EMC standards including but not limited to MIL-STD, DO-160, CISPR, IEC-61000 and ISO


Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
  • Possesses a depth of understanding and experiences which integrates of the main areas of his/her chosen engineering field
  • Also possesses advanced knowledge of the theories, principles and concepts of the disciplines
  • Has a proven track record and ability to lead technology the development of integrated technical solutions across the spectrum of Element capabilities globally
  • Has an understanding of both internal and external capabilities which can be utilized to support and further business opportunities across Element
  • Will have at least 15 years' relevant experience post-degree or higher academic qualifications
  • Is thoroughly knowledgeable of internal capabilities and understands external resources available globally
  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

Physical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
  • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
