Currently there is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to support NASA's Human Space Flight Program. This engineering professional is expected to demonstrate a proactive approach in coordinating with management and teammates to ensure verification activities are meeting NASA goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer - ISS Visiting Vehicles will:
Review and identify, document, and resolve issues with technical, programmatic, and operations data, including hardware/software design data, documentation, interfaces, requirements change, models, testing plans and procedures, Generic Ground rules, Requirements and Constraints (GGR&C), Data Item Descriptions/Data Requirement
- Descriptions (DIDs/DRDs), and other special information requests.
- Participate in International Space Station (ISS) Visiting Vehicle (VV) Integration Milestone reviews and integration forums as lead ISS Program VV integrator and provide feedback to the Vehicle provider on ISS integration issues, risks and concerns.
- Provide integrated ISS Program input to resolve issues.
- Provide support to NASA Transportation Integration Office (TIO) management by reviewing deliverables and conduct review of deliverables within the ISS Program to confirm vehicle design and operational compliance with ISS requirements and to elevate and close out technical issues/concerns.
- This includes review and identification of issues with integrated schedules.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus five (5) years of appropriate work experience.
- Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.).
- Applied knowledge of product life cycle development, sound systems engineering & integration principles, and strong working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.
- Applied working knowledge of systems engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems.
- Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
Preferences:
- Project management or other leadership experience.
- INCOSE System Engineering Professional Certification.
- Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering.
- Knowledge of systems, tools, or initiatives that promote the digitization of the systems engineering discipline, such as requirements management software (DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.), workflow management software (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), model-based systems engineering software (Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.), or other digital tools (SharePoint, Confluence, etc.)
- Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives.
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks concurrently.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
- Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary

- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
- Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
- This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
