Location: San Diego, CA, hybrid schedule

Overview:
Our client,a top San Diego based technology company is seeking an Accounting Manager with a strong emphasis on Revenue Recognition. This role sits within the Controllership organization and serves as a key revenue subject matter expert, partnering closely with Finance, Product, Marketing, and IT to ensure accurate, scalable, and policy compliant revenue accounting in accordance with ASC 606 and GAAP.

This is a highly visible individual contributor position focused on revenue strategy, technical accounting guidance, process oversight, and ensuring operational execution aligns with financial reporting requirements while supporting continued business growth.

Responsibilities:

* Lead revenue recognition strategy across new products, offerings, and business model changes
* Own and evolve revenue recognition policy under ASC 606, including technical research and position development
* Partner cross functionally to translate accounting guidance into clear business and system requirements
* Evaluate end to end revenue processes, including forecasts, deferred revenue, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Establish and strengthen internal controls over revenue accounting and financial reporting
* Drive issue resolution through strong collaboration and clear communication across accounting and business stakeholders
* Provide training and guidance to functional leaders on revenue implications
* Improve systems and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy of revenue recording
* Support revenue related due diligence for potential acquisitions

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
* CPA required
* Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience with strong technical revenue expertise
* Deep knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition application in complex environments
* Strong analytical, project management, and problem solving skills
* Ability to influence across multiple functions and levels of leadership
* Background in public accounting or internal audit preferred
* Experience with large ERP systems such as Oracle R12; familiarity with CRM and reporting tools is a plus
