As a per diem, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist, you will fill orders with accuracy; check technician-prepared products before release; maintain the security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Director about the daily activities of the pharmacy; and aid the Director in maintaining the pharmacy.

Location: Highlands Behavioral Health is an innovative, 86-bed hospital offering comprehensive psychiatric care for adults and adolescents. Highlands Behavioral, located in Littleton, Colorado, has easy access to major highways and surrounding communities.

Schedule: This per diem, nonexempt position will provide coverage one weekend per month (Saturday & Sunday) from 10am-2pm as well as PTO coverage for the Director of Pharmacy as needed. Weekday and Holiday availability is also requested.

About the Pharmacy: Pharmacy hours are weekdays and holidays from 8:00am-4:00pm and weekends 10:00am-2:00pm. The pharmacy utilizes Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services including laboratory monitoring and interpretation, drug interactions, and medication safety review
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree (BS) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current State of Colorado pharmacist license in good standing
  • Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns
  • Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in a work setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD
  • Experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44.09 to $78.70 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
