JOB SUMMARY The Instructional Spaces Manager is a leader for IT professionals who manage the in-room instructional technology and IT computer labs in support of the academic mission at UC Santa Cruz. This manager oversees the support of computer labs and in-room academic systems, fills needs identified by the Disability Resource Center, and fills needs related to general assignment instructional spaces and computer labs identified by the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and the Registrar's office. The Instructional Spaces team works hand-in-glove with the Media Systems Engineering team to ensure that the general assignment classrooms and computer labs technologies are available and functioning as expected. The team also partners closely with the Instructional Technology team to ensure seamlessness across the experience with in-person and virtual learning tools for faculty and students. The Instructional Spaces manager and Instructional Technology manager collaborate intentionally to ensure this. The scope of this unit is to provide faculty with unfettered access to all in-room instructional technology and ITS computer lab technology available at UCSC. This team provides maintenance and faculty support for all general assignment classrooms and IT computer labs, with the manager providing some of these services directly. The team collaborates closely with Media Systems Engineering on updates, repairs, and new technologies. The unit coordinates with the Instructional Technology team, who are experts on the virtual teaching technologies and their integration with in-room systems, including Lecture Capture. The manager is also responsible for operational coordination with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to ensure that the DRC staff and accommodated students have appropriate access and support to the technologies managed by the team. The Instructional Spaces Manager participates in and may lead efforts to research new computer lab and classroom solutions, evaluate their compliance with campus and systemwide policies, and determine their suitability for campus instructional needs. The Instructional Spaces manager develops and recommends a campus strategy for making ongoing resource allocation decisions regarding classroom and computer lab instructional technology support and contributes materially to ongoing resource allocation decisions regarding the technology. The manager develops and oversees communications and support strategies to ensure faculty are aware of, understand how to use, and can find needed support for computer lab and in-room instructional technology. The manager is responsible for ensuring that the full suite of service management functions are delivered for all computer lab and in-room instructional technologies, including service strategy; service delivery; incident, request, change, and problem management. The manager leads the Instructional Spaces team and ensures that staff have the support needed to deliver the highest quality of service. This position will strengthen and maintain the campus and organizational relationships to allow a true partnership that enables us to increase our impact, speed, and agility. This role provides success metrics and monitors projects with full transparency. The manager will develop and communicate priorities across the campus through collaboration and building consensus. They will coach, espouse, model, and partner to ensure an attitude and approach of "we are one team." Awareness that we are all one team and the micro and macro user experience and journey is critical for success in this role. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary: $117,780 - $132,300 / Annually.
