Harper Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent with strong vertical building experience to lead major military construction projects at MCAS Yuma in Yuma, Arizona.

We are specifically looking for leaders with proven experience delivering complex barracks, multi-level housing, aircraft hangars, gymnasiums, headquarters buildings, and other large vertical structures valued at $30M+.

Position Summary

The Superintendent is the on-site leader responsible for managing all field operations for complex vertical military construction projects. This individual ensures that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in strict compliance with contract documents and military standards.

This role requires deep experience in ground-up vertical construction, including structural concrete, structural steel, building envelopes, MEP coordination, interior build-out, and commissioning of large occupied facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all on-site field operations for vertical building projects valued at $30M+.

  • Oversee construction of the gymnasium, tank and office space.

  • Develop and drive the master schedule, short-interval plans, and look-ahead schedules to maintain aggressive timelines.

  • Coordinate subcontractors and self-perform crews to ensure alignment with structural, architectural, and MEP sequencing.

  • Interface directly with USACE, NAVFAC, military stakeholders, inspectors, and client representatives.

  • Interpret drawings and specifications to proactively resolve conflicts and prevent rework.

  • Manage building envelope systems (roofing, waterproofing, curtain wall, exterior finishes).

  • Lead MEP coordination and ensure successful inspections, testing, and commissioning.

  • Enforce strict compliance with EM 385-1-1 and site-specific safety programs.

  • Monitor quality control in partnership with QCM to meet military construction standards.

  • Manage field documentation including daily reports, RFIs, submittal reviews, and change documentation.

  • Drive productivity, material logistics, and equipment utilization.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience.

  • Minimum 5 years as a Superintendent on vertical building projects valued at $30M+.

  • Proven experience delivering ground-up military or federal projects.

  • Strong background in:

    • Structural concrete and structural steel

    • Multi-level construction

    • Building envelope systems

    • MEP coordination and commissioning

    • Interior build-out of occupied facilities

  • Working knowledge of USACE/NAVFAC processes and documentation requirements.

  • Thorough understanding of EM 385-1-1 and hazard identification practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage large subcontractor teams and complex phasing.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.

  • OSHA 30 certification.

  • Experience with Design-Build delivery methods.

  • Experience working in secure or active military environments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $125,000 to $145,000 annually (Compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.)
