Job Summary

Oversee the work of the Scheduling team, project staff, or consultants assigned to scheduling functions for one or more construction projects of varying size and complexity. Prepare and maintain project schedules, develop and review baseline schedules, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of project milestones. Collaborate with project teams to integrate construction planning, scheduling methodologies, and advanced tools to optimize project performance.

Job Responsibilities




  • Lead, manage, and supervise project scheduling activities for Scheduling Engineers, project staff, or consultants across multiple construction projects.



  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, including summary and detailed level schedules.



  • Create full Critical Path Method (CPM) baseline schedules and track performance against baseline and forecasts.



  • Communicate project execution plans and identify potential risks, promoting early mitigation strategies.



  • Develop schedules throughout all project phases, from RFP/Project Launch through Substantial Completion and Final Turnover.



  • Collaborate with project departments, including Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction, to prepare detailed schedules.



  • Integrate BIM, The Client models, and logistics planning in collaboration with VDC.



  • Apply Last Planner System (LPS) methodology to construction project schedules.



  • Conduct monthly schedule updates, including narratives, target comparisons, and look-ahead schedules.



  • Develop and update cost and resource-loaded schedules.



  • Conduct schedule reviews with project leadership and provide scheduling metrics at Operations Review Meetings or other sessions.



  • Support business development and marketing activities related to project scheduling, including proposal preparation and contract documentation.



  • Train and support project and office staff on scheduling software and best practices.



  • Ensure consistent application of scheduling policies, practices, and procedures.



  • Maintain relationships with project stakeholders to communicate scheduling value and overall project plans.



  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to educate and influence clients on planning and scheduling standards and best practices.



  • Conduct site progress walks, verify project status, and update schedules accordingly.



  • Compare As-Built vs. planned progress to ensure logical construction sequencing.



  • Perform audits of project schedules to validate quality, LPS integration, and identify risks or gaps.



  • Implement advanced techniques, including time impact analysis, weather considerations, and cost/resource loading, to manage potential schedule risks.



  • Provide historical schedule data as needed for claims or dispute resolution.




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.



  • Experience managing large construction projects (> $100 million).



  • Scheduling certification preferred (e.g., AACE, PSP, PMI-SP).



  • Experience in construction project engineering and supervisory roles.



  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.



  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.



  • Proficient in scheduling software (e.g., Oracle Primavera P6) and diagnostic/comparison tools (e.g., Acumen Fuse, Change Inspector).



  • Experience performing gap analysis and managing scheduling risks.



  • Familiarity with earned value concepts and resource productivity validation.



  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and judgment skills.



  • Experience implementing continuous improvement methods (e.g., lean construction, Takt).




Physical Demands




  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate work areas under construction.



  • Frequent sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands to handle tools or controls.



  • Regular use of computer keyboard and monitor, with close and peripheral vision required.



  • Must be mobile and occasionally travel short or long distances.



  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally.




Work Environment




  • Work occurs at construction sites, offices, and remote locations.



  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather, and electrical hazards may occur on construction sites.



  • Noise levels vary from quiet to loud depending on work setting.



  • Must comply with all safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
