Job Summary

The Cohen Lab WHOI seeks a part-time helper to assist with development and application of AI powered software analysis of coral reef habitat imagery.

The internal working title for this position will be Part-Time Helper.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist researchers in developing and applying AI powered software analysis of coral reef habitat imagery

  • Annotate datasets using platforms such as SAM2 and Roboflow to support supervised model training.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to machine learning software, image segmentation, and model outputs.

  • Communicate with external coral machine learning experts on behalf of the lab to address technical challenges and improve workflows.

  • Collaborate effectively with lab team members, contributing to discussions and ongoing software development efforts.

Education Desired:

Currently enrolled in High school - senior

The position requires strong mathematical and computer skills, experience with SAM2 and Roboflow, a general knowledge of Pacific coral taxa, and the ability to work in a team.

Additional Job Requirements

Hourly Pay Range: $16.31 - 20.80 USD

The salary range provided for this position reflects the expected minimum and maximum base pay for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market conditions. In addition to base salary, eligible employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
