Responsible for accomplishing accounting assignments involving the application of accounting knowledge and abilities. Supports departmental purchasing and procurement operations, including processing payment vouchers and associated documentation. Audits and processes purchase orders, cash receipts, and disbursement documents in accordance with disbursing rules and regulations. Reviews central accounts and fund groups for propriety of entries and investigates overdrafts. Performs related duties as required. May prepare or assist in the preparation of various financial reports including monthly summary reports, government reports and the annual financial report. May prepare or assist with billings to government on federal projects. Responsibilities
A high school diploma or GED, with at least three years of experience in accounting, finance, procurement, or business operations, including accounts payable, receivable, purchasing, and reconciliations. A Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least two years of relevant experience is also acceptable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and a strong understanding of the uses and capabilities of data processing equipment are essential. Strong communication skills, the ability to resolve complex issues, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service are also required. **Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred QualificationsA Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in a university or higher education environment, particularly in managing accounting functions and staff. Advanced knowledge of university-specific systems, such as Workday, Point Plus, and DEFINE (Mainframe) system, is highly desirable. Additionally, experience working with and/or mentoring student employees is preferred. A demonstrated ability to monitor productivity, improve efficiencies, and document process changes is advantageous. Salary$50,000 Working Conditions and Other requirementsAdhere to departmental performance standards. Regular and punctual attendance in the workplace is required, and work overtime hours when necessary. Comply with departmental and university policies, procedures, and initiatives, as well as all other university and system rules and regulations. This position is a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Clery Act and University policy, and a Responsible Employee pursuant to Title IX, SB212, and University policy. It is a security-sensitive position and classified as exempt. The position requires manual dexterity, lifting, and moving objects, as well as the ability to work in environments with alarms, large crowds, dust, noise, including construction noise. The work area may occasionally be windowless, and there may be brief exposure to chemical fumes. The position also requires frequent use of a keyboard, repetitive hand movements, climbing stairs, and other manual tasks as part of daily duties. The role involves occasional exposure to varying weather conditions. This position requires the ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team, often managing overlapping projects. The role involves working independently with minimal direction while interacting with a large number of people in a shared office space. The incumbent must maintain cooperative relationships with staff and participants, communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats, and have direct contact with customers. Flexibility, accuracy, creative thinking, and initiative are key to success in this role. The position also calls for the ability to follow supervision, adhere to university and divisional policies, organize time and documents efficiently, multitask, and operate within a complex, fast-paced organizational structure. Additionally, the role involves maintaining professional office attire, making independent decisions, safeguarding confidentiality, demonstrating professionalism, delegating tasks, providing leadership, and supervising others. Work is in-person on the main campus in Gregory Gym. Hours are Monday - Friday, from 8 AM - 5 PM.
