Manager, Data Engineering & Automation

This role sits within Business Process Operations and reports into Finance Technology leadership, partnering closely with the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) organization, Finance partners, and adjacent data and platform teams.

You will lead a team that builds automated, data-driven, and intelligent solutions that power critical Finance processes. Your work directly enables confident decision-making, operational rigor, and scalable execution across Finance!

You are a hands-on people leader who manages and grows data engineers responsible for ETL, robotic process automation, AI and large language model solutions, analytics engineering, and internal applications. You ensure teams deliver production-grade solutions with consistency, quality, and clear ownership.

You are a player-coach with the technical depth to challenge designs and architectures and the leadership focus to set direction, develop talent, and own outcomes. Success is measured by adoption, reliability, and real business impact.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop engineers across data engineering, automation, and application development.

  • Set clear expectations for ownership, engineering quality, and operational rigor.

  • Grow engineers who can independently deliver durable workflows, services, and automations.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.

Delivery & Team Effectiveness

  • Ensure teams are effective within scrum frameworks, focusing on flow, predictability, and delivery quality.

  • Partner with Scrum Masters to support planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Remove blockers across people, process, and technology.

  • Drive delivery of data, automation, and intelligence solutions for the CAO organization and Finance partners.

Technical & Business Partnership

  • Serve as a technical leader for CAO and Finance partners, validating and constructively challenging requirements.

  • Translate business intent into sound technical designs.

  • Ensure solutions are trusted, adopted, and embedded into operational workflows.

  • Balance near-term delivery with long-term scalability and maintainability.

Operational Ownership

  • Ensure acceptance criteria, testing strategies, and release readiness are met.

  • Own post-delivery stability, issue remediation, and continuous improvement.

  • Promote reuse, standardization, and practices that protect production environments.

Qualifications

  • 8-12+ years of experience in data engineering, automation, analytics engineering, or software development, including 3-5+ years leading people.

  • Technical fluency across modern data and automation stacks including SQL, Databricks, Snowflake, APIs, ETL/ELT, RPA, AI/LLM technologies, and internal applications.

  • Experience leading teams delivering production-grade pipelines, automations, and services.

  • Ability to review and challenge technical designs without needing to build everything personally.

  • Proven success partnering with Finance and executive team members.

  • Strong judgment, clear communication, and the ability to influence without authority.

Expected Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $113,300 -- $226,000 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
In California, the pay range for this position is $156,100 - $226,000

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
