GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Yard Supervisor coordinates yard activities to ensure smooth operations of yard activities including but not limited to patching, sandblasting, stockpiling, loading, yard organization, etc. Prospective candidates shall have knowledge of shop drawings, proper handling of precast components, as well as good knowledge of rigging. Other benefits include Health and Family Care leave for both union and non-union employees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate, schedule and lead all yard personnel of start times and daily tasks.
- Have knowledge of material that needs to be stockpiled to ensure orderly storage, as well as organizing adequate yard space based on the size of the project being stocked.
- Coordinate stripping with production to ensure the proper amount of equipment is available so the operation can be completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with dispatch to have an adequate amount of loads loaded ahead - coordinate loading of return loads, ensuring equipment is available as not to delay shipment.
- Maintain overall organization of the yard space including storage of finished product, storage of trailers, parking, etc.
- Manage housekeeping, snow removal, and grading of the yard.
- Direct patchers on what needs to be patched and when, based on when the material is due to be delivered. Ensure all patching is done prior to shipment.
- Work in conjunction with the maintenance shop to ensure yard equipment is properly maintained and the repairs are done as required.
- Control inventory of rigging used in the yard. Alert the designated person when rigging needs to be ordered.
- Control inventory of dunnage and monitor levels of when to order to ensure no delays.
- Distribute information to loading crews as to what is being stripped so they are prepared with the proper rigging and the cranes/lifts are positioned in the proper place. Maintain log of where particular jobs/pieces are located in the yard.
- Ensure product is stockpiled in a timely fashion to ensure equipment is available as necessary.
- Ensure all employees are following safety procedures and company policies.
- Communicate directly to Manager and Quality organization daily about productions finished goods (successes or issues).
- Maintain all direct employee documents such as vacation, payroll, disciplinary reports, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- 2+ years of relevant experience in construction, factory or manufacturing environments preferred
- Prior pre-cast experience preferred
- Knowledge of blue prints
- Knowledge of proper handling of precast components
- Knowledge of rigging
- Ability to manage inventory
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Strong team leadership skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
- Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally
- Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently
- Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently
