Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises scheduling and assignment of duties to provide adequate staffing for the department, revising as needed according to census and staffing changes. Responsible for ensuring all scheduled procedures are completed per shift. Includes completion of daily assignment schedules and shift log. Project work which includes floor care.
- Evaluates, set standards for, and monitors the safe usage of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment by partners according to Mercyhealth and all regulations and standards. Includes ensuring equipment repairs are done in a timely manner. Maintains accurate and cost effective inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Develop partners to ensure retention of most effective partners by assessing needs, addressing and documenting performance and behavior strength/weakness through the timely use of coaching, feedback, performance appraisals, corrective actions, and termination procedures. Includes recommending partners for transfers, promotions, and other training, etc.
- Conducts routine partner meetings to provide ongoing training to partners in the use of new equipment and cleaning methods which includes: horizontal surface cleaning, patient, non-patient areas, flooring, windows, walls, all waste and isolations, etc. Trains on proper use of keys and pagers. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field in order to enhance expertise.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to effectively interview, select and hire partners as needed to maintain budgeted FTE's and accomplish department service/business goals.
- Proactively inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the hospital, completing daily quality audits of dismissal rooms and other areas of assignment, recommending facility repairs, etc. and reporting unsafe areas to improve sanitation, appearance and efficiency. Routinely tours facility to observe partners and ensure cleaning is being done safely and in compliance with all guidelines. Maintains records of all inspection findings.
- Routinely inspects EVS closets and carts to ensure proper chemicals are being used. Discusses findings on daily inspections with partners and follows up as needed. Put stock supply away. Maintain supply room. Inspect packing slip for accuracy. Create orders.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining partners; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Assists manager in special projects and research to update techniques. Includes gathering and maintenance of statistical data and reporting systems, square footage, cost savings, partner performance, etc. Participates in the evaluation of new products, equipment procedures, floor coverings, drapes, furniture, etc.
- EPIC and EVS Software (reports and dashboard)
- Knowledgeable of all waste types and proper handling, transport and disposal.
- DOT BioHazard Materials Training
- Attends committee meetings. Continue with on-going education. Works closely with new partners, completing department orientation, one-day training, ensure training record is kept current.
- Keeps manager, supervisor and customers informed of needed information. Follow-up with concerns in a timely manner.
- Maintains a working knowledge of audio visual equipment.
- Monitor partners worked hours on payroll system.

Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Three to five years of cleaning experience preferred.
Certification and Licensure
C.H.E.S.T./C.H.E.S.P. preferred
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of partners.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. The partner is frequently required to climb (using step stool or ladder), balance and stoop, kneel, twist, bend, crouch, or crawl. The partner must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to distinguish color-coded items - linen bags, signs & symbols, etc.

Supervised by Manager and/or Director. Work is performed according to standard practices and procedures with some independent judgment required.

PAY RANGE:
$20.72 - $33.15
