Position Summary: The Staff Engineer, Electronics Architect serves as the subject matter expert and technical authority for system-level electronic architecture across all dispensers and connected hardware platforms. This role is responsible for defining, maintaining, and evolving the electronic architecture that supports dispensers, controllers, pedestals, chargers, edge devices, switches, and other components within the portfolio. The Staff Engineer ensures all components work cohesively, meet specifications, maintain compatibility, and scale effectively across regional and global product lines. This position requires close collaboration with Software and Firmware Architects to ensure seamless hardware-software integration, alignment on new component designs, and consistent architectural principles. The Staff Engineer will own and maintain comprehensive system diagrams, interface definitions, and electrical architecture documentation that guide development teams across the engineering organization. In addition to technical leadership, this role works cross-functionally with Product Management, Customer Support, Operations, and global engineering teams to introduce emerging technologies, validate new concepts, address system limitations, and support long-term platform strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep electronics expertise, systems thinking, and strong leadership qualities with the aspiration for future advancement. Position Responsibilities: * Define and maintain the end-to-end electronics architecture across all product platforms, including dispensers, controllers, pedestals, chargers, edge devices, switches, and related components. * Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, interface maps, compatibility matrices, and system-level documentation for global and North American product variants. * Lead cross-functional alignment between Electronics, Firmware, and Software Architects to ensure cohesive system design and proper integration of new components. * Evaluate system limitations, performance constraints, and interoperability challenges and recommend architectural solutions or improvements. * Collaborate with Product Management to understand business needs, feature roadmaps, and regional requirements that influence component architecture. * Introduce new electronics technologies, components, and platforms that enhance system performance, reliability, scalability, or cost efficiency. * Partner with Firmware and Software teams to define system behaviors, communication interfaces, protocols, and interdependencies. * Work with Customer Support and Operations to address field-related issues and ensure architecture decisions support reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability. * Maintain a detailed understanding of global versus North American component variations, including compliance requirements, certifications, and legacy considerations. * Support platform strategy by identifying opportunities for harmonization, modularization, and reuse across products and regions. * Lead system-level design reviews, providing guidance, coaching, and technical oversight across engineering disciplines. * Ensure architecture complies with safety, regulatory, EMC, environmental, and payment certification requirements. * Act as a technical mentor to engineering teams, promoting standardization and best practices in system architecture. * Demonstrate leadership qualities such as accountability, decision-making, and influence across multidisciplinary teams. Qualification Requirements: * Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering required; Master's degree preferred. * 8+ years of experience in electronics engineering, embedded systems, or hardware architecture. * Deep understanding of electronic system design, component selection, embedded interfaces, and system integration. * Experience developing architecture diagrams, interface definitions, and system-level documentation. * Strong understanding of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB, wireless). * Proven ability to collaborate with Firmware and Software teams on system-level behaviors and architecture. * Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess limitations, evaluate risks, and propose technical solutions. * Experience with global product platforms and regional variations preferred. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex architectures clearly. * Demonstrated leadership capabilities and interest in future advancement. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with cross-domain systems including mechanical, power electronics, and embedded firmware. * Knowledge of architectural modeling tools or diagramming platforms (e.g., Visio, Draw.io, Enterprise Architect). * Experience with high-level system modeling, interface definition, or platform architecture development. * Familiarity with regulatory and certification processes (EMC, UL, PCI, safety). * Experience supporting field issues, root cause analysis, or operations/manufacturing teams. * Prior involvement in multi-region or global engineering organizations. Essential Functions: * Serve as the system architecture leader for electronics within the global engineering organization. * Represent the electronics architecture discipline in cross-functional and executive-level discussions. * Maintain a high level of organization and discipline in documentation, diagrams, and interface definitions. * Work independently and proactively while collaborating across global teams and technical specialties. * Exhibit strong leadership, initiative, and technical authority in decision-making. * Be motivated to grow into advanced leadership or technical management roles in the future. * Fluent English is required.
