The Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy and Honors College at the University of Missouri

Job Description

The Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy and Honors College at the University of Missouri invites applications for up to two interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowships in either History or Political Science/Theory. The successful candidate will be part of an ongoing partnership between the Kinder Institute and the Honors College to deliver a two-semester, team-taught sequence entitled "Revolutions" and "Constitutions." The sequence focuses on these twin developments in the modern world and is an interdisciplinary endeavor spanning different academic units, including, but not limited to, political science and history. A successful candidate will teach a 20-student section every semester in the sequence and a third course that is either an interdisciplinary seminar for the Honors College or one of the required classes in the Kinder Institute's growing Constitutional Democracy major.

The Fellowship is a full-time position with an annual 2-1 or 1-2 teaching load. It also comes with a competitive salary, university benefits, and dedicated funds for conference travel, research, and other professional expenses. Funds are also available to help offset moving costs. The fellowship is renewable for up to two years.

Experience in collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching is an asset and a willingness to engage in the programming and intellectual life of the Honors College and Kinder Institute is required. We especially welcome applications from candidates with research specialisms that speak to the philosophical foundations, historical development, or continued relevance of democratic principles and constitutional governance both within the U.S. and globally, particularly the transatlantic world.
