Who You Are...

As Operations Trainer, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining high-quality learning experiences that strengthen operational capability across the organization. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in operational processes and partners closely with Operations, Finance, EHS, and other functional leaders to build consistent, scalable training programs.

The Operations Trainer plays a critical role in designing, simplifying, and documenting core operational processes, coaching operational talent, and supporting new-hire and acquisition onboarding to drive consistency, productivity, safety, and margin performance. This role also serves as a change agent, supporting enterprise initiatives by enabling adoption of new processes through effective training, communication, and cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed environment.

Some examples of the work you might do includes:

Training Development & Delivery:



  • Serves as the SME to design and develop training programs for Operations.
  • Supports instructional design for trainings by translating operational knowledge into effective learning experiences and providing content expertise.
  • Delivers training across the organization in multiple modalities, including virtual, in-person, and on-site.
  • Provides supplemental training outside of the core operations curriculum as needed.
  • Supports on-site training needs during acquisitions, including Operations and EHS integration activities.
  • Develops and delivers training to support the rollout of new or updated processes, systems, and tools.
  • Partners with functional leaders to ensure training aligns with business priorities and operational performance goals.


Process Documentation & Standardization:



  • Designs, simplifies, and standardizes key operational processes to improve efficiency, clarity, scalability, and user adoption.
  • Documents core operational processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and adherence across locations.
  • Develops and maintains high-quality training materials aligned to documented operational standards.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline, standardize, and clarify processes in partnership with Operations leadership.
  • Owns the full lifecycle of process creation, documentation, change enablement, and operations training delivery.
  • Applies continuous improvement methodologies to evaluate and enhance operational workflows and training effectiveness.


    Change Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration:



    • Serves as a change management partner for operational initiatives, supporting communication, training, and adoption of new processes.
    • Collaborates across a matrixed organization with Operations, Strategic Finance, EHS, P&C, IT, and other stakeholders to align process design and training solutions.
    • Gathers feedback from the field to refine processes, training content, and implementation approaches.
    • Helps leaders reinforce new behaviors and standards through coaching, communication tools, and reinforcement strategies.


      Coaching & Talent Support:



      • Provides coaching and support to operational employees and leaders to reinforce learning, improve process adherence, and address skill gaps.
      • Acts as a resource for branches by offering on-site coaching and follow-up support.
      • Partners with leaders to assess capability gaps and recommend targeted development interventions.


        Onboarding & Learning Pathways:



        • Designs and maintains onboarding learning paths for new hires and internal promotions within Operations.
        • Ensures onboarding programs are role-specific, scalable, and aligned with key operational processes and safety expectations.
        • Continuously evaluates and updates learning paths to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
        • Supports onboarding during acquisitions and organizational changes to accelerate time-to-productivity.


          What You Need...



          • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
          • 5+ years of experience in Operations.
          • Experience with Lean, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologies.
          • Experience in process design, simplification, and documentation.
          • Experience leading training in an adult-education environment.
          • Prior history of coaching, developing and mentoring others to expand their capabilities.
          • Proven ability to lead change and drive adoption in a matrixed organization.
          • Must have a valid driver's license.
          • Must have a driving record compliant with the Company's policies and MVR requirements, and consent to ongoing driving record monitoring by the Company.
          • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to facilitate talent program needs, deliver training, support process implementation, and attend meetings.


            Preferred Qualifications:



            • Experience in the HVAC, building automation or construction related industries.
            • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
            • Experience with adult learning principles.
            • Experience with instructional design.
            • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential.
            • Lean, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement certification.
            • Proficiency with Google Suite and Google Meet.

              Work Environment:



              • This position operates primarily in a professional office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office and presentation equipment such as laptops, printer/scanners, and audio visual tools.


              Physical Demands:



              • In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
              • This is considered a sedentary work position, which means possible exertion up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
