Job Summary We are looking for a diligent busser to assist and support our serving staff at our restaurant. As a busser, you will be responsible for cleaning, clearing, and setting tables, ensuring that the restaurant supplies and equipment are clean and maintained, and assisting customers with requests or complaints. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Arrange, maintain and disassemble buffet area before, during and after each meal period.
- Maintain par level of all supplies as set by department.
- Stock food and beverage items in designated areas.
- Prepare mise en place for shift.
- Assist waiters and bartenders in any tasks necessary.
- Maintain established levels of ice in bars and restaurants through monitoring levels, transporting ice to restaurants and bars and filling ice bins as necessary.
- Pre set up of bar area including ice, glassware, liquor set and juice setup.
- Operate vacuum to clean carpet between meal periods.
- Transport and operate food service equipment as needed.
- Prepare coffee, iced tea and juices as necessary.
- Monitor refrigerator temperatures and inform appropriate department of any abnormalities. Follow up to ensure resolution of abnormality.
- Remove dirty dishes and clean tables as needed. Transport dirty equipment to dishwasher area.
- Transport trays of food between kitchen and wait-staff or guests as needed.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of workstation. Ensure work area meets standards set at the end of work shift.
- Inspect all equipment. Report any problems to appropriate personnel. Follow up to ensure correction of any problems.
- Interact in courteous and professional manner with guests and hotel staff with whom employee comes into contact.
- Comply with supervisor's directions to ensure guests and staff satisfaction.
- Attend to guests' request or complaints when possible and appropriate. Inform supervisor or appropriate person of request and follow up to ensure it was resolved.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area.
- Process Requisitions/Pick Up
- Check Glassware & Silverware Stock - replenish as necessary
- Maintain tables within Forbes standards throughout meal services
- Perform side-work as assigned by the management
- Perform responsibilities as assigned by management; ability to fill in as a food runner when needed
- Adhere to Forbes 5-Star Standards set forth by the hotel.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 or more years of experience working in a luxury restaurant in a front of house position or equivalent experience.
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Have or willing to get Food Handler and RBS Certification
- Knowledge and ability to maintain state and federal health code standards.
- Functional ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to add and subtract three-digit numbers. Ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including, but, not limited to feet inches, cups, pounds and ounces.
- Ability to understand and comply with safety precautions in use of chemicals.
- Ability to maintain good relationship with staff and guests.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to converse calmly with irate guests, and all staff in sometimes-intense emotional situations.
- Ability to participate in and attend all departmental and hotel-wide meetings.
- Ability to walk, stand, lift, reach, push, pull, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, turn and grasp for up to 8 hours per shift.
Work Conditions
- Most tasks are performed as part of a team with moderate supervision.
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
- Work tasks are performed walking, standing, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, twisting, turning and grasping.
- Standing and walking occur continuously.
- Many work tasks require the ability to lift and carry in excess of 50 pounds 80% of the time.
- Vision occurs continually with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
- Some tasks are performed on carpeted areas, while others are performed on tiles or other hard surfaces.
- Some work tasks are performed with the use of machinery and office equipment including but not limited to a calculator, vacuum cleaner, and ice machine.
- Some work tasks may require employee to come in contact with hazardous chemicals. Employees should use precautions including, but not limited to rubber gloves.
