Geotab is seeking a Manager, Solutions Engineering who will lead a team that showcases and adapts Geotab solutions for government customers in Canada and the United States. This position requires a deep understanding of government compliance requirements, security protocols, and procurement processes while identifying and addressing the unique needs of public sector customers. You will be responsible for developing and managing the team that customizes solutions using Geotab's open platform to meet stringent government requirements and support federal, state, and local agencies in overcoming their mission-critical challenges. What you'll do:

As a Manager, Solutions Engineering, managing a government customer-focused team, your key area of responsibility will be leading and developing a solutions engineering team that drives Geotab's public sector strategies by creating tools and educational content for internal teams while advancing ongoing business objectives. You will ensure your team identifies gaps in the product ecosystem as it relates to government compliance and security standards (including FedRAMP, FISMA, and other federal requirements), provides alternative solutions that meet regulatory requirements, and offers valuable feedback to product and development teams regarding unique government-specific needs. You will need to manage and mentor your team while working closely with a variety of stakeholders within our government sales channels, customer care, product management, and other solutions engineering teams. You'll be responsible for ensuring your team maintains appropriate security clearances and understands government acquisition processes, including responding to RFPs, RFIs, and supporting ATO (Authority to Operate) requirements. To be successful in this role, you will be a customer-focused leader with strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences within government agencies. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong technical proficiency in government IT infrastructure and compliance frameworks, business acumen specific to the public sector, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while identifying and pursuing potential revenue growth opportunities within federal, state, and local government markets.

  • Define, refine, and optimize team processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals.



  • Lead and facilitate team meetings, including 1:1s, planning sessions, and retrospectives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.



  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and training opportunities, empowering team members through coaching and professional development initiatives.



  • Engage in team development by ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment, and by maintaining and expanding the team's technical knowledge of the Geotab ecosystem.



  • Collaborate with and support employees during the performance management process, providing consistent and constructive feedback on performance, key performance areas, and career development planning.



  • Strategically allocate projects and resources to maximize impact, balancing workloads while optimizing team and individual contributions.



  • Establish and track SMART KPAs for both the team and individual contributors, ensuring alignment with department and company objectives.



  • Anticipate and address evolving team resourcing needs through strategic hiring and workforce planning.



  • Manage team budgets through cost optimization.



  • Provide technical leadership and assist in scoping projects, managing partner/customer requests, lead business meetings as they relate to technical solutioning and Geotab ecosystem optimization, etc.



  • Engage and collaborate with partners and customers to optimize their utilization of Geotab's technology, products, and solutions, tailoring the approach to meet their specific and unique needs.



  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.



  • Identify opportunities for innovation, leveraging technical insights to enhance solution offerings and drive business success.



  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by streamlining processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall business impact.



  • Build and manage strong relationships with the team, internal stakeholders, and partners/customers by understanding their needs, accurately capturing technical requirements, serving as a point of escalation for projects, and fostering partner and customer loyalty.



  • Communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.



  • Work across functions and align with senior leadership.



  • Maintain a strong focus on strategic and revenue generating activities, ensuring team member efforts are impactful and align with company KPAs.



  • Identify opportunities to scale and enhance the team's impact through process automation, efficiency improvements, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.



  • Develop, maintain and execute on annual plans to support revenue growth, resource availability, technical solutioning, that align with company goals, industry trends and general best practices.



  • Determine team strategy in conjunction with the department leader(s).




What you'll bring to the role:


  • 5-8 years of work experience, ideally in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Business Development, Technical Account Management or Engineering Support.



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.



  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in related field may be substituted.



  • Technical experience with the Geotab Product suite and ecosystem.



  • Experience with SQL, Google BigQuery, and Superset dashboard creation, software development including Geotab's SDK and API integrations, and familiarity with programming languages such as Python.



  • Experience with hardware-level communications and integrations is an asset.



  • Technical competence using business software programs, including Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).



  • Experience as a people leader, developing and managing teams or people.



  • Successfully coached and developed employees.



  • A strong team player who can engage with all organizational levels.



  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training.



  • Ability to document technology solutions in precise detail while also summarizing them succinctly.



  • Outstanding presentation, facilitation, and customer-focus skills (both in person and over web conference).



  • Demonstrates strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills by understanding business requirements, developing effective solutions, and managing projects to successful completion.



  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.



  • Has a strategic mindset, a keen sense of priorities, and the ability to pivot as the landscape changes.



  • Ability to stay relevant to technology and adapt to growing technological and market demands.
