Position Summary
Leads moderately complex to complex projects within Healthcare Engineering. Responsible for project management, analytics, reporting, and accountability across clinical, operational, and infrastructure-focused initiatives. Develops and documents project plans and timelines, ensuring alignment with departmental strategy, regulatory requirements, capital planning, and patient care priorities. Plans, prioritizes, and executes a broad range of initiatives to ensure successful design, implementation, measurement, and sustainability of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads Healthcare Engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with clinical risk, infrastructure constraints, regulatory standards, and operational goals.
- Partners with executive sponsors and departmental leadership to develop project charters, governance materials, business plans, and decision-ready recommendations.
- Coordinates interdisciplinary teams including engineering, facilities, nursing, anesthesia, surgery, IT, analytics, legal, privacy, finance, and external vendors to design and implement projects, pilots, and programs.
- Translates complex clinical, operational, and engineering challenges into structured project plans addressing workflow, physical space, technology, data capture, and human factors.
- Designs, manages, and evaluates pilots and innovation initiatives, supporting transition to sustained operations and long-term scalability.
- Applies analytic and quantitative frameworks to assess feasibility, safety impact, operational performance, and strategic value. Utilizes data to inform recommendations and decision-making.
- Facilitates cross-functional meetings, builds consensus among stakeholders, and supports strategy development and program design.
- Monitors, evaluates, and reports on project outcomes against defined metrics and milestones.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
Bachelor's degree required Master's degree preferred
Experience
- Four years of progressive experience in healthcare project management, engineering-adjacent operations, clinical systems implementation, consulting, or a closely related field.
- A Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience.
- Experience working in or with clinical environments strongly preferred.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects and navigating regulatory and operational risk preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of clinical concepts, terminology, and healthcare workflows; experience in pediatrics preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects involving regulatory considerations and infrastructure or operational impact.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to develop quantitative frameworks and translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills within a matrixed healthcare organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
