HDR is looking for a Control Systems Intern to support our global Control Systems practice which includes full-service capabilities. Our practice provides assessment, planning, design, automation programming/configuration, testing & commissioning, and maintenance for control systems in multiple industries. The primary role of this position is to support the planning, design, and implementation of automated industrial control systems in coordination with clients and multidiscipline teams to develop solutions for construction and implementation in multiple market sectors including, food & beverage; general industrial; oil & gas; logistics, manufacturing; mining; transportation; and water/wastewater. In this role, the Control Systems Intern will work under the direction of a Senior Control Systems Engineer and/or System Control Engineer to design industrial control and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, assisting with the evaluation and selection of equipment and system components. In the role of Control Systems Intern, we'll count on you to: * Participate in the design of complex supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. * Assist with selection and specification of process instrumentation, control panels, and network equipment. * Assist with development of biddable and technically accurate instrumentation and control system construction documents. * Assist with the development of software applications for automation such as programmable logic controller (PLC) and human machine interface (HMI). * Gain real-world experience on exciting projects * Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs * Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures * Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager * Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry Local candidates preferred Required Qualifications Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program Attention to detail Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills Basic Microsoft Office skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
