Job Description




As a Security Guard - Armed Flex Patrol in Emeryville, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a retail mall location, you will monitor and patrol common areas, parking lots, and storefront perimeters, helping to discourage security-related issues through a visible presence. You will conduct routine rounds, spot and report unusual activity, and respond to incidents with calm communication. You will also support guests, tenants, and staff with professional customer service that reflects integrity and teamwork.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to tenants, guests, and/or shoppers by following Allied Universal protocols, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a retail property location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation and reporting concerns through the appropriate channels.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of common areas, storefront corridors, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points and observe activity within the location, documenting and communicating security-related observations, suspicious activity, and/or policy violations to site leadership as required.
  • Complete routine reports, incident documentation, and other post duties, maintaining professional communication with property staff, law enforcement, and/or emergency services when requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 2+ years of security-related experience.
  • Have 3+ years of combined law enforcement, military, and/or security-related experience or a college degree.
  • Have 1+ years of armed security, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Have 1+ years of law enforcement experience or 2+ years of security supervisor and/or manager experience or 3+ years of security-related experience.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
