Job Description




As a Security Officer Armed Patrol in Reading, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Hospitals, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a Hospital, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to alarms and calls for service, document observations, and communicate clearly with site personnel and visitors while delivering a strong customer experience. Bring integrity, teamwork, and an agile, reliable approach to every shift.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and/or staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Perform armed post duties in accordance with Allied Universal guidelines and location requirements, including carrying authorized equipment, maintaining weapon retention, and following all use of force and de-escalation expectations.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, initiating notifications, documenting actions taken, and coordinating with on-site leadership and/or public emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout industrial buildings, production areas, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity, identify hazards to property or operations, and report maintenance concerns.
  • Control access at gates, entrances, and/or vehicle checkpoints by verifying identification, managing visitor logs and deliveries, monitoring alarm and camera systems when assigned, and completing detailed shift reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 1+ years' armed security, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Have Act 235 qualification for Pennsylvania only.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A valid firearms permit is preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
