JOB PURPOSE


We have an exciting Export Sales Representative opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. This position is responsible for promoting and selling fresh and frozen pork products into a defined international region. Focuses on meeting personal sales targets, new business development, maintaining customer relationships, and troubleshooting specific customer problems. Must work internally with scheduling, customer service, business intelligence team, transportation, and production to make the best decisions for Seaboard's bottom line. Export Sales representative has a solid knowledge of products, their characteristics, and their market(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for selling and promoting the company's products to existing customers and targeted prospects in international markets.
  • Identify potential growth areas and develop new accounts within designated territory
  • Meet and exceed established KPI's in assigned territory
  • Will be involved with export document coordination
  • Responsible for scheduling of export shipments in assigned territory
  • Assist with customer visits to our processing facilities.
  • Assist with the development of new products and packaging specifications
  • Assist with developing appropriate marketing material for target markets.
  • Responsible for order pricing, claims processing and credit evaluation.
  • Gather and share market intelligence.
  • Work with documentation and credit departments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:



  • College degree preferred in one of the following: Animal Science, Ag Econ, Meat Science, Business or Marketing with 3 - 5 years of experience in sales within the pork industry.
  • Work experience and knowledge of the export process, including the understanding of duties, tariffs, and letters of credit and shipping documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of packing plant operations and pork product specifications.
  • Highly organized and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent closer with outstanding organization, communication, creative problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent listening, negotiating, presentation and analytical skills
  • Professional telephone skills. Phone selling experience.
  • Detail oriented to coordinate export documentation.
  • Bilingual in Mandarin preferred but not required.
  • Some travel will be required for up to 25%.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE


The hours and days of work are determined by departmental needs and at management's discretion. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
