OVERVIEW
Merrick is seeking a Senior Engineer / Program Manager to provide full-time, on-site leadership at our client facility in Chamblee, GA. The Senior Engineer / Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, oversight, and management of all construction, remediation, commissioning, and operational readiness activities for a large-scale biocontainment laboratory campus. This position also functions as Merrick's on-site representative, maintaining strong client relationships, supporting project execution, and identifying opportunities to expand Merrick's services. Annual salary range for this position is USD $130,000 - USD $165,000. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Direct commissioning activities for a biocontainment laboratory, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop a thorough understanding of all project documents, including contracts, design drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the master project schedule.
- Manage project team of engineers and technical staff
- Coordinate commissioning and remediation activities across multiple operational units, including Research, Facilities Operations and Maintenance, Safety, Security, and more.
- Provide expertise in direct digital control systems, including controls devices, trending, procedures, and sequences of operations.
- Lead regular on-site coordination and progress meetings with stakeholders.
- Promote and enforce a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment.
- Ensure all contractor start-up, performance, and pretesting are verified prior to final commissioning.
- Support the client in maintaining all validation and verification documentation within the client's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), with a preference for experience in Maximo.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and promote Merrick's services to support future business opportunities.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, engineers, project management, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
- 10+ years experience on design, commissioning, and / or construction management of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, or electrical) on large projects (>$1 M).
- Contribute to the leadership, direction, teaching, and mentorship of junior staff.
- Experience in managing personnel and project engineering.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project. Procore or similar project management software.
- Client projects for this position require US citizenship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Significant experience in the verification and validation of biocontainment laboratories, including knowledge of relevant protocols, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, especially Maximo.
- Proficiency with direct digital control systems, particularly in a laboratory setting.
