Summary
APS is looking for a Supervisor- Distribution Operations Center (DOC). This role will direct the activities of the DOC Operators in the performance of planned and emergency switching, issuing of clearances and contact tags, ensuring productivity and efficiency are maximized. Provide effective guidance and direction to DOC personnel, fostering a positive work environment through teamwork, continuous learning, fair treatment, open communication, and a focus on department objectives. Supervise and provide technical direction to the Operations team, which includes both union and professional skilled employees.Ensure the distribution system is operated and maintained to maximize reliability and efficiency while delivering exceptional customer service.Provide managerial oversight and leadership during nonroutine work hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays), which may include directing all onsite personnel in the absence of their normal supervision.


Note : Shift Work Required ( 24/7 operation with nights, weekends and potential holiday shift work)

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum five (5) years demonstrated experience in utility distribution operations or equivalent utility experience.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts on 24 hour basis.
  • Ability to observe work and remain alert while working under stress and adverse conditions for extended periods of time and at irregular hours.



Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of APS policies and procedures, environmental regulations, Labor Agreement, APS Construction Standards, Accident Prevention Manual, and excellent PC skills.
  • Excellent distribution operations knowledge, project leadership and communication skills.

Major Accountabilities

1) Lead the activities of DOC personnel in the completion of operation and maintenance activities related to the distribution facilities through the implementation of sound planning, operating principles, practices, policies and procedures to assure optimum safety, customer service, efficiency, reliability and productivity. Provide guidance and leadership to team members ensuring compliance with APS Code of Conduct and Core Values. Ensure department personnel are properly supervised, trained and qualified to perform assignments.

2) Analyze operation and maintenance requirements and initiate appropriate action for equipment, materials, and support services in order to assure adherence to reliability standards.

3) Effectively interface with department personnel, customers and representatives from external agencies as needed.

4) Provide for the safety of the public, crew personnel, and equipment through the proper administration of clearance and grounding procedures, proper housekeeping, and adherence to Accident Prevention Manual rules.

5) Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by adhering to stipulated permit and environmental requirements.

6) Ensure all personnel are in compliance with Company policy and procedures and that job activities support and protect the interest and image of the Company.

7) Maintain consistency in administration of cost control, progress tracking and reliability reporting of information related to operating records as determined.

8) Maintain communications with Energy Control Center (ECC), Renewable Operations Center (ROC), State Operating Centers and Key customers as needed on matters involving reliability, outage planning, and outage duration.

9) Coordinate Operator activities during emergency events, tracking and prioritizing outages, developing restoration and manpower utilization plans, and communicating outage information to key stakeholders and Incident Command Center.

10) Identify weaknesses in the Distribution System and ensure that plans are implemented to correct.

11) Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

12) Help maintain the proper number of personnel on the floor at all times to maintain service levels while also filling in as Scheduler in their absence.
