Job Description: Surgery Coder (Intermediate Level) Expected Start Date: March 10, 2026 Work Environment: Fully Remote (CST) Schedule: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM CST (Flexible start times: 7 AM, 8 AM, or 9 AM) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Surgery Coder with strong expertise in general surgery, breast surgery, gastroenterology surgery, and head & neck surgery. This role requires accurately coding surgeries directly from PMD, pulling up auto-notes, and completing detailed work with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate is confident, detailoriented, and collaborative, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. Key Responsibilities * Perform direct surgery coding for a variety of surgical specialties. * Utilize PMD to review and code surgeries efficiently. * Pull and complete auto notes to ensure accurate documentation. * Review medical documentation and apply appropriate CPT, ICD10, and HCPCS codes. * Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and payer requirements. * Collaborate with team members as needed to resolve coding questions or discrepancies. * Maintain productivity standards and meet accuracy expectations. Required Skills & Expertise Top Skills * Surgery Coding * General Surgery Coding * Breast Surgery Coding * Head & Neck Surgery Coding * Gastrointestinal Surgery Coding Qualifications * CPC certification required. * Minimum 2 years of General Surgery coding experience. * Minimum 2 years of Breast Surgery coding experience. * Experience coding general surgery, head & neck, breast, and GI procedures. * Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures. * Previous medical coding experience in a similar environment. Additional Skills & Attributes * Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy. * Confident in decision-making and coding methodology. * Effective communicator and collaborative team member. * Comfortable asking questions to ensure correct coding and documentation. Work Environment & Requirements * Remote position, must reside in one of the following states: * TX, OK, AL, MO, GA, FL, AR, KS, SD, IL, KY, LA, TN, ME * Not eligible: West Coast (e.g., CA, OR, WA), New York, New Jersey - STRICT NO. * Hours: 8-5 CST (flexible start times available). * No time off during the first 90 days. * Blackout dates: * Monthend close * Last 2 days of each month * First day of each month Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.
