Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $79,200 to $95,250/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $79,200 to $143,400/year.

Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under the direction of the Business Systems Manager, the Systems and Data Manager is responsible for: supporting multiple financial system integrations, provisioning of access to campus financial systems, and assisting with long term financial system process development. Documents complex business processes and systems; prepares plans and proposals for the improvement of systems, procedures, and processes. Handles identifying and resolving complex issues with BFS system integrations. Oversees UCSB's person index maintenance. Possesses solid operational and accounting skills, data reconciliation experience, and system support skills. Possesses ability to work under deadline pressure, handling multiple projects concurrently, and dealing with sensitive and confidential issues. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related are and / or equivalent experience / training.
- 1-3 years Experience supporting enterprise financial systems such as Oracle Financial Cloud.
- 1-3 years Experience maintaining data integrity, resolving system errors, monitoring batch processes, and managing cross-system integrations in a complex ERP environment.
- 1-3 years Participation in full lifecycle system implementations, including testing, role mapping, impact assessment, and end-user training.
- 1-3 years Demonstrated experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex system and data integrity issues across integrated ERP environments.
- 1-3 years Experience working in a higher education or public sector environment with centralized financial reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years Demonstrated participation in system implementations, including business process mapping, fit/gap analysis, testing, and transition planning.
- 1-3 years Advanced experience analyzing complex financial data discrepancies and developing long-term solutions to improve system accuracy and efficiency.
- 1-3 years Experience providing strategic guidance on financial systems architecture, hardware/software acquisition, and modernization initiatives.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 30% Enterprise Data Management (EDM) - Is the campus expert in maintaining, updating, and configuring EDM (Oracle Enterprise Data Management). Corrects data by using system tools including resolving requests in error, analyzing data across views, and making necessary updates to the data and configuration to ensure continuous data integrity. Documents corrective action as well as the system process and procedures. Works with central offices and various departments to determine the correct information. Identifies and documents data problems and outlines solutions for continued data integrity. Implements configuration changes to support data integrity. Participates in business process mapping, fit/gap analysis, role mapping, impact assessments, training, and transition strategies. Applies professional project management and IT concepts to assist the functional teams to ensure deliverables meet requirements in the specified quality and timeline parameters for the new system implementation.
- 50% System and Data Management - Manages mission critical batch processes for all BFS Units and UCSB campus community Systems including: Oracle Financial Cloud (OFC), Financial Accounting Hub (FAH), Enterprise Data Management (EDM), PeopleSoft Financials, General Ledger, and UCPath. Ensures delivery of high priority data between systems and to UC Office of the President essential for departments to run daily operations. Technical leader responsible for analysis of unique issues/problems to ensure accuracy of data and batch processes, and coordinate solutions with IT professionals. Responsible for the generation of reports and work files from financial systems for BFS end users. Monitors automated system data transfers to FAH, OFC, and EDM including daily batches from server and system feeds from various campus systems such as BARC, TOE, TOF, Flexcard, UCPath, recharges, and CashNET. Coordinates corrections files with system lead administrators and data managers. Provides Role Security Administration and access services (RSA) for internal and certain campus-wide systems including Data Warehouse, FinHub, OFC, EDM, Divisional File Servers, and ALLN02 applications. BFS and EAPQ contact for banking software solutions and user management. Responsible for initiating account requests for numerous servers and services. Provides banking software access to BFS and limited campus users. Responsible for fiscal close processes, providing monthly and year-end fiscal close support. Transmits required Corporate Financial System (CFS) files in the 5-file format to UC Office of the President (UCOP) as scheduled. Transmit monthly Procurement report to UCOP. Annual reporting to UCOP including DPR file transfers, receiving Gifts and Endowment income, etc. Ensures data and reporting requirements as scheduled by UCOP are fulfilled in a timely manner. Receives error report and provides timely updates and solutions with appropriate Financial Analysts. Supervises all Data Unit processing functions, including manual internal recharge and non-recharge journal loading, integration batch processing to FAH and general ledger. Researches, analyzes, and resolves exceptions to complex database systems in Business & Financial Services. Reviews numerous reports to evaluate the data.
- 5% Computing Support/Data Unit Supervision - Responsible for the recruitment, selection, hiring, training and supervision of 1.0FTE career staff. Provides leadership, direction, training and mentoring to ensure effective operation of the DATA unit.
- 10% System Development - Advises BFS on acquisition of hardware and software as they relate to core systems and internal office automation and provides strategic direction and solutions as needed. Consults with Enterprise Technology Services and works with senior managers and the Assistant Director with process development, testing, and implementing of Financial Systems to enhance both the BFS Accounting Department and general campus accounting operations. Serves on campus committees which study current systems, propose modifications to, and assists in the design specifications for system changes. Participates in system conversion and testing on an as-needed basis. Provides ongoing support to move from mainframe dependency to suitable applications or web platforms. Performs special tasks related to system development as assigned by AVC/Controller of BFS.
- 5% Projects as Assigned - As needed, assist with projects in support of the Business Financial Services team. Support Payroll team by contacting employees who have UCPath records that do not pass a workforce verification review. Assist them in correcting their records. Support General Accounting with change requests, reporting needs, error analysis, data analysis, etc. Support the BARC Person Index as data discrepancies arise.
