General Notes

Purpose

Outgoing service-oriented team member responsible for full event support and customer service for Academic, Government, and Non-Profit Clients at the Thompson Conference Center (TCC). Flexible, communicative, problem-solving Event Worker.

Responsibilities
  • Customer service and assisting clients' general needs during events. Support clients' use of TCC audiovisual equipment. Setting up rooms, equipment, and spaces, including moving tables and chairs in a timely manner. Help with audio visual equipment.

  • Resolving the problems as quickly and efficiently as possible. Assist with general light facility maintenance and custodial services, including vacuuming, wiping down rooms and patios, removal of trash, and monitoring the parking lot. Listening. Team Communication. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

One year of experience with events. Basic interpersonal skills. High School Graduate or GED. Experience with customer service, dealing with various clientele. Experience working with computers. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a varied team environment. Successfully working on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to pivot from and to different types of work. Mental to interpersonal to physical and back.

Preferred Qualifications

Superior customer service skills in a business environment. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Being able to engage in different communication styles. Two years or more of experience with event setup and support Two years or more of experience with audiovisual setup and support. Experience with the repair and maintenance of audiovisual equipment. Attention to detail. One year of experience assisting with the maintenance of an events center. More than the required years of experience. Experience working in an academic or hospitality setting. Multitask Master. Bachelor of Arts.

Hourly Rate

$25.00

Working Conditions
  • Attire: Business Casual

  • Polo or another casual work shirt, work pants such as Carharts or Dickies, and heavy-duty, closed-toe shoes.

  • Use of manual dexterity, Lifting, pushing, or pulling, Standing

Work Shift
  • Hours per week - 19

  • Work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • We are open Monday - Saturday, 07:00 am-10:00 pm, with some Sundays. We schedule different shifts each week and the shifts are dictated by needs of the clients. A typical shift can be four to five hours, or more, depending on the needs of the events.
