Job Overview

The Cash Management Specialist posts all payer, self-pay, credit card, and agency patient payments. Posts all payer denials. This position also supports sorting, scanning and routing mail to appropriate areas.

Shift: Day, 8 hrs between 6am-6pm. Hybrid

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing, researching and posting of all insurance payments, self-payments and GL transactions with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Post cash and/or credit payments, contractual allowances, rejection codes, deductibles, and copayments.
  • Prints any required hard copy claim forms to be mailed to insurance companies.
  • Follows internal payer protocols and posting guidelines related to payer fee schedules.
  • Responsible for the completion of scanning, filing and daily cash reconciliation spreadsheet daily. Updates and maintains all logs and spreadsheets used for reconciliation. Sorts and scans incoming mail and routes to appropriate area. Maintains OnBase correspondence and completes Corr WQ items.
  • Meets all weekly and month end closing deadlines as they relate to the correspondence application process.
  • Ensures proper documentation is attached to the patient account including complete and accurate account notations.
  • Researches unidentified payments and/or recoupments to determine appropriate resolution. Identifies credit balances at time of posting and corrects any erroneous mistakes.
  • Maintains Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) log. Prepares and balances receipts, adjustments and refunds in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains understanding and the ability to interpret multiple types of Explanation of Benefits. Prepares all remittance with the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for disbursement to appropriate business office staff per procedure.
  • Performs outbound calls to insurance for follow-up on backup needed for posting. Follows-up with insurance companies for re-processing of checks. Obtains missing ERA/835/EOB from payers via portal or telephone.
  • Identifies trends within payers and escalates as necessary.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $19.18 to $28.77
