POSITION TITLE: Information Technical Analyst III

POSITION SUMMARY:

The IT Analyst III is responsible for all technologies and skills related to the configuration, installation, and maintenance of complex office and lab computers focusing on hardware and software. Conduct daily administration and user support of servers, laptops, and desktop workstations. Performs analysis of complex laboratory computer configurations. Provides technical assistance and consulting to users. Monitors and troubleshoots the environment for potential problems. Installs software upgrades when required. Perform installations, modifications and repair of network devices to include peripheral equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Conducts daily administration of servers, laptop, and desktop workstations, complex configuration, installation, and maintenance of operating systems/upgrades, RAM, software, third-party applications, and peripheral equipment. Diagnoses complex hardware and software problems.
  • Manages and recommends system configuration changes and consults on system purchase/retirement issues.
  • Analyzes complex laboratory computer configuration in support of data storage and network connectivity. Examines system log and error files. Uses standard OS tools to examine system load and performance.
  • Manages system configurations, file systems and disks.
  • Answers routine end-user questions and provides basic support regarding user accounts, tapes archival and retrieval, printing, mail, network access, and other system questions.
  • Analyzes and optimizes laboratory computer systems and network configuration. Identifies and addresses additional user requirements or applications/network limitations.
  • Determines feasibility of new operating systems and system software upgrades with consideration of application and hardware requirements.
  • Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant systems administration experience, or equivalent training. Experience in a networked, enterprise environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Windows systems administration experience, or equivalent training and experience in a networked, enterprise environment.
  • Basic and clear understanding of security administration and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of transportation and file network storage protocols and network security.
  • Understanding of host and network monitoring tools.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Intune Admin Center, MS Active Directory, Exchange Management, and Azure, or similar.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Advanced working knowledge of debugging skills in a heterogeneous, networked environment are helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers at various technical and organizational levels from diverse cultural backgrounds, languages and nationalities.
  • This is an on-campus position requiring 5 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus.


COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $36.86 to $41.15/hourly, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
