Job Description

We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to own the technical integrity and continuous improvement of our RS control solutions products. In this role, you will balance sustaining engineering (70%) with new product development (30%), directly impacting product reliability, manufacturability, and certification compliance in demanding Oil & Gas environments. This is an onsite position requiring daily collaboration with production teams and direct engagement with manufacturing processes.

If you thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment, enjoy solving real-world manufacturing challenges, and have experience working with hazardous area equipment, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering improvements to existing product lines to enhance performance, reduce cost, and improve manufacturability

  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing of mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems

  • Own and maintain technical documentation including CAD models (Autodesk Inventor/Vault), engineering drawings, assembly procedures, manuals, and test specifications

  • Design equipment and components from concept through production for Engineering-to-Order (ETO) projects

  • Manage third-party product certifications (UL, CSA, ATEX, CE), ensuring compliance with hazardous area requirements

  • Perform engineering calculations including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-ups

  • Troubleshoot installed equipment, including HMI/PLC interfaces, hydraulics/fluid systems, and P&IDs

  • Develop and execute validation test plans to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory standards

  • Select and specify mechanical components, electrical instrumentation, and system packaging for Oil & Gas hazardous environments

  • Present technical concepts and solutions to internal stakeholders and external customers

  • Create and maintain engineering manuals, test procedures, and technical documentation

  • Collaborate with the Machinery Integration Engineer on HMI/PLC systems for new builds, legacy systems, and troubleshooting

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design from concept to production (Autodesk Inventor preferred; SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar considered)

  • Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar PDM/PLM systems (preferred)

  • Strong GD&T skills, including tolerance stack-ups and manufacturing drawing creation

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and instrumentation diagrams

  • Experience selecting electrical components for integration into mechanical systems

  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas hazardous area requirements (Class I Div 1/2, ATEX, IECEx)

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and fluid systems; ability to troubleshoot flow-related issues

  • Familiarity with HMI/PLC systems for troubleshooting and collaboration with controls engineers (preferred)

  • Experience with lubrication systems, filtration products, or fluid handling equipment (preferred)

Experience

  • 5-7 years of mechanical design experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

  • Proven ability to independently own product design projects from concept through production

  • Experience managing or executing third-party certifications (UL, CSA, ATEX, CE)

  • Technical writing experience for engineering manuals, procedures, and documentation

  • Field troubleshooting experience involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems

Work Environment

This is an onsite role requiring daily interaction with manufacturing teams and direct engagement with production processes.
