Card Solutions Manager

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). The Card Solutions Manager is responsible for managing the bank's debit card and ATM operations to include planning, organizing, controlling and directing card services activities, which include Debit and Credit HELOC cards, ATMs, related card networks, and fraud mitigation. This position will develop, implement and maintain operational workflows within the department ensuring tasks are completed timely and accurately.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Leads and oversees all aspects of Card Solutions, including daily activities concerning customer support, fraud, system reliability and reconciliation.
  • Directly manages and develops team members, including scheduling, task delegation, performance management, and coaching. Provides informed and authoritative recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance processes, increase efficiency, and maintain the integrity of data and systems. Owns the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Sets strategic direction for Card and ATM services, including development of product roadmaps, evaluation of industry trends, and execution of enhancements, new services, and partnerships.
  • Negotiates contracts with vendors for card-processing, ATM service and ATM restoration.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with senior leaders across Treasury Solutions, Bank System Solutions, and Branch Solutions to ensure operational continuity, effective cross-training, and consistent delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Develops and implements plans for new ATM deployment and necessary upgrades.
  • Oversees the ATM balancing process and troubleshoots issues.
  • Manages regulatory compliance for ATMs and Debit Cards - includes but is not limited to:
  • Monitors federal and state regulations. Performs research, analyzes issues, evaluates alternatives resolving complex issues, implements and communicates new and/or revised policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a member of the Bank's Compliance Committee
  • Performs internal departmental audits when necessary, identifying and resolving any issues and ensuring compliance with regulations is maintained on an ongoing basis.
  • Acts as liaison to Audit personnel and OCC personnel for Debit Card/ATM compliance.
  • Monitors transaction trends for fraudulent activity. Actively researches all fraud cases to limit exposure to First Mid and our customers.
  • Working closely with the marketing department, actively promotes Card products and other bank products via the ATM.
  • Provides top level problem resolution. Provides technical expertise in the areas of problem solving and application development and enhancement.
  • Assists the Operations and IS Manager with various duties to ensure the successful operations of the department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on business, finance, computer science or related field, preferred


Experience:


  • 5+ years of progressive experience in banking operations, card services, payments, or a related function
  • 2+ years of direct people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development
  • Experience managing or supporting ATM and/or debit card programs, including vendor relationships and operational processes


Skills:

  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex operational and technical issues
  • Regulatory Awareness: Working knowledge of applicable banking regulations and compliance expectations
  • Communication & Influence: Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and influence outcomes
