About the Opportunity: Washington County's Department of Facilities, Fleet, and Parks takes great pride in the planning, construction, maintenance, and repair of nearly 45 County-owned buildings (over 1.9 million square feet), grounds, parks, and associated hard-scape. We are lookingfor three FacilitiesMaintenance Technicians to join our skilled team in the Facilities Division.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician II is the full journey-level class within the Facilities Maintenance Technician series. Employees in this class are distinguished from the Facilities Maintenance Technician I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions at this level are flexibly-staffed and are typically filled by advancement from the Facilities Maintenance Technician I level. Don't have a Limited Building Maintenance Electrician's license (LBME) or equivalent? That's OK!This position is budgeted at the Facilities Maintenance Technician II, journey level, which requires the LBME license. However, Facilities is happy to underfill the position at the apprentice-level depending on the candidate pool and business needs. If hired at the I level, you will be actively enrolled in an LBME apprenticeship program upon employment with Washington County. Enrollment in the program will continue until you obtain the State of Oregon Limited Building Maintenance Electrician's license (LBME), or equivalent. You will have (1) year to obtain the LBME once you have reached the 2000 hours of electrical experience and completed all LBME classes.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is the apprentice-level class in the Facilities Maintenance Technician series. Employees at this level work closely with an assigned technician with the goal of learning the standard practices of the Facilities trade and providing support to the higher-level technicians within the trade. This class is distinguished from the Facilities Maintenance Technician II, in that the apprentice is an active participant in a structured apprentice program leading to full journey-level work. We are looking for an energetic Facilities Maintenance Technician professional with a passion for public service, an eye for detail, a strong work ethic with the ability to multi-task and adapt to reactive and emergency situations, demonstrate good communication skills, and have consistent attendance. They will enjoy performing routine tasks and be able to shift priorities to respond to urgent work requests with pride, professionalism, and a positive demeanor. The ideal candidate will be interested in growing their skill set and sharing their knowledge with others on the team.
Minimum Qualifications Facilities Maintenance Technician I(Hourly Rate: $26.54 - $32.26)
18 years of age or older. A high school diploma or equivalent or ability to obtain GED within 1 year of hiring;OR Students currently enrolled in a specialty trade skills training program such as JobCorp;OR Completion of a building trade educational apprenticeship program;OR Two (2) years of training within a building trade and basic work experience in residential, commercial, or industrial building system maintenance or building construction (e.g. frame, insulate, sheetrock, plumbing, wiring, painting, and fixture installation).
Facilities Maintenance Technician II(Hourly Rate: $30.76 - $37.42)
A high school diploma or equivalent;AND A minimum of three (3) years of experience performing journey-level work in a building trade and experience in residential, commercial, or industrial building system maintenance or in building construction;AND Must possess or have ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire a State of Oregon Limited Building Maintenance Electrician's license (LBME), or equivalent, as a condition of employment.
Additional Requirements
Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy. Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment prior to appointment.
