  • Responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure. Includes the implementation and design of hardware and software. Monitors the performance of systems.
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Key aspects of the role:
  • Building servers at each layer of the stack on industry-standard operating systems with software and various tools.
Top 5 must-have hard skills:
  • Experience building highly available servers end to end.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end stack including tools and agents.
  • Ability to coordinate technical experts to complete work.
  • Ability to problem solve and quickly switch tasks.
  • Ability to oversee a large number of server builds in various stages.
Top 5 nice-to-have hard skills:
  • Experience with IBM AIX, Linux, Websphere, and Oracle.
  • Strong technical coordination skills.
Top 5 soft skills:
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical experts.
  • Ability to produce strong, clear status reporting for technical audiences.
  • Ability to deliver high-level reports for leadership.
  • Ability to influence to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to lead and provide direction and tasks to engineers and technical experts.
