Job Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading quality engineering activities to ensure products and processes meet internal requirements, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory standards. This role provides technical leadership in problem solving, continuous improvement, and compliance with AS9100 and aerospace customer requirements. The Senior Quality Engineer partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customers to drive quality performance and prevent recurrence of nonconformances.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits; support corrective actions and closure.
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Support management review by analyzing quality metrics, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Problem Solving & Corrective Action

  • Lead root cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, RCCA, Fishbone, 5 Why).
  • Own corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, ensuring effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Drive containment, disposition, and long-term corrective actions for internal and customer issues.

Manufacturing & Process Quality

  • Provide quality engineering support to production and manufacturing engineering.
  • Review and approve inspection plans, first article inspections (FAI per AS9102), and control methods.
  • Analyze process capability, yield, scrap, and rework data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), including risk assessments (PFMEA) and process validation.

Supplier Quality

  • Support supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring.
  • Lead supplier corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve supplier deviations, concessions, and source inspection requirements.

Customer Interface

  • Act as a primary quality point of contact for customers.
  • Support customer audits, quality reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and present quality data, reports, and corrective action responses.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across the site.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading audits, RCCA, and CAPA activities.
  • Proficiency with quality tools (FAI, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with customers and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, or equivalent).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP/MES quality modules.
  • Experience supporting regulated or high-reliability products.

Cubic Pay Range:

$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
