Planner/Scheduler The Planner/Scheduler will coordinate all work orders pre-production to ensure tools and materials can meet production schedules. Who are we? Duties & Responsibilities
- Verifies daily that MRP has run successfully, takes appropriate actions as necessary, and notifies management, and works with Baan IT to resolve MRP errors and restart program as necessary.
- Maintains parameters in the MRP system to ensure all planned orders are at the correct lot sizes, fixed order quantity, Economic Order Quantity, order intervals, tooling restraints, blank size considerations, scrap yields, safety stock, etc.
- Generates signals by item report daily and updates all work order dates to new rescheduled dates.
- Analyzes demand for all planned orders on a daily basis, based on start date within the Time Phase planning window; creates work orders for a minimum of 7 days ahead to ensure a proper flow of travelers to Manufacturing; reviews any single piece orders for possible consolidation or push out.
- Reviews the buildable report on a daily basis, analyzes all Assembly requirements and creates work orders.
- Supports Production Coordinators when requested regarding quantity changes, force printing production orders, or any emergency request to ensure the highest level of customer service is maintained.
- Works effectively with IPT and MEs by creating tool orders and special orders. May delete and recreate production orders due to planning or revision changes and prints experimental lots as requested.
- Works effectively with all manufacturing Managers and Team Leaders with traveler issues out of Baan (i.e., lot splits, material call out, quantity changes, MRR issues, R.O.C issues, part number rolls, and reprint travelers when requested).
- Works effectively with Production Control Coordinators and Managers on all Min/Max part number requirements and validates sales orders with Business Management on forecast.
- Works effectively with Procurement Agents to ensure sufficient travelers are created to support Economic Order Quantity.
- Reviews work center demand vs. capacity data reports to level load the manufacturing line.
- Tracks late-to-create and late-to-start work orders that are on IPT hold, Engineering hold, or Business Management hold; sends the file to Engineering/Business Management and reviews and resolves issues.
- Maintains periodic metrics to track pre-production exceptions and monitors the performance of the pre-production process.
- Acts as a resource for technical support for all corporate and Kaizen events for the performance center and attends as required.
- Performs Planner code updates on a weekly basis as required for new part numbers.
- Must be able to work effectively with other members of the demand planning team to understand and resolve anomalous BAAN planning and scheduling issues.
- Must be able to collect and analyze BAAN data to support problem solving initiatives as directed by management.
- Must be able to work effectively as the liaison to Corporate BAAN IT.
- Must be able to effectively document current practices and procedures to create standard work.
- Provides BAAN training to new employees.
- Seeks opportunities to automate data retrieval and/or reporting throughout the organization to eliminate daily clerical tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years' related experience and/or training required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical skills required for developing efficient systems and methods to identify and plan tasks.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to deal with people on a continuous basis under production schedule pressures.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, correspondence, and memos, operating and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before individuals or small groups of customers, suppliers or other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Annual baseline hearing test is required.
- Employee may be required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Pay Range: $57,500-72,000/year
