Responsibilities

Job Summary
This position is responsible for non-technical oversight of Medical Group lab operations. The position will specifically lead the areas of phlebotomy, courier and customer service. This includes, but is not limited to, strategic planning for each area, building teams to cover each, evaluate engagement of third party vendors (where applicable) and ownership of results delivered across these responsibilities.
Essential Functions
  • Supervises Medical Group phlebotomy at practice sites, customer service and 3rd party courier staff across all Medical Group practice locations. Oversees the staff and ensures adequate staffing levels, inclusive of hiring/onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching and developing employees ensuring employee productivity, quality of work, and alignment of goals with our mission, vision, and values. Ensures compliance with all policies, financial stewardship by being accountable for the financial integrity around development and maintenance of department budget.
  • Quality and Regulatory Responsibilities. Develops, implements, aligns and reviews phlebotomy operating policies and procedures and ensures they are in accordance with both organization policies and requirements of regulatory agencies. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and appropriate licensing/accrediting agencies in areas of service, personnel and facilities. Assists and supports the Medical Group quality assurance program including quality control, preventive maintenance, safety program, data, material management and quality of service with emphasis on process improvement. Implements and monitors appropriate data collection for information systems. Evaluates and implements new products for quality, effectiveness, safety and cost containment. Promotes and practices that provide quality customer services
  • Finance, Budget and Capital Recommends and responsible for budget information for capital expenditures, operating expenses and revenue. Monitors, analyses and corrects variance against budget on an ongoing basis. Analyzes fiscal needs and prepares justification as necessary. Works to ensure that staff provides accurate data, reporting and billing.
  • Oversees all Medical Group courier vendor logistics and associated project teams to increase customer care and meet business needs.
  • Partners directly with IT and Ambulatory departments to ensure various systems (i.e. Epic/Beaker) are being developed/maintained for the Medical Group.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Associate's Degree in health related field - Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare related field - Preferred
Experience
  • Supervisory Experience - Preferred
  • 3 years Phlebotomy and processing experience - Required
  • 5 years in laboratory services operations and management, of which 3 years are at a director or higher level - Preferred
