The Health Business Development Coordinator role is focused driving more rigorous and consistent business development processes across the global market sector. The primary responsibility of this role is to schedule and facilitate regular client development and pursuit capture planning sessions between local teams and global/regional leadership. The ultimate goal is to ensure that each local practice is leveraging the breadth and depth of HDR's assets and approach to maximize net fees booked each year.

Foundational to the success of this effort is an annual in-person business development workshop with every practice in which the sector has an NFB goal. Supplemented by quarterly virtual workshops, as well as additional strategy and capture planning workshops as necessary, the purpose of these regular touchpoints is to establish and reinforce business development best practices, including:

  • corporate processes, protocols and decision-making through strategy, go-no-go, and risk discussions
  • rigorous and consistent client development planning
  • thorough pursuit capture planning, especially for our most impactful opportunities
  • transparency and accountability to the budget that have been established to achieve our goals

This is a fast-paced role requiring a highly organized individual to build strong relationships across the enterprise. The successful candidate must be collaborative, hard-working and flexible, but also able to grow to facilitate sessions more independently over time.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Annual Planning
    • Annual Regional Strategy Meetings - Collaborate with regional leadership and local teams to plan and facilitate annual virtual and in-person strategy sessions.
  • Business Development Best Practices
    • Promote, refine, and continuously reinforce market sector business development best practices
    • Document and standardize best practices to ensure consistent adoption across regions and team
  • Pursuit Engagement
    • Partner with global and regional leadership and local teams to develop and execute winning strategies for the market sector's most strategic pursuits (>$1B construction).
    • Drive accountability at the local and regional levels through direct involvement in:
      • Leading and documenting rigorous client development plans
      • Leading and documenting comprehensive pursuit capture planning efforts
      • Leading and documenting pursuit strategies, including competitor analysis and assessment of HDR risks and liabilities
      • Ensuring disciplined execution of pursuit strategies and sustained team focus throughout the pursuit lifecycle
      • Establishing and maintaining a post-mortem process to capture, analyze, and catalogue win/loss outcomes
  • Market Knowledge
    • Conduct and synthesize competitor analyses to strengthen positioning and differentiation
    • Monitor and interpret healthcare industry trends to guide market sector strategy and help internal teams understand market implications and emerging opportunities
    • Support Practice Leaders (e.g., Behavioral Health) in shaping and executing business development plans and go-to-market strategies
  • Tools + Systems
    • Maintain working knowledge of and provide training and guidance to local health principals on key business development tools and systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing or consulting services
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, Marketing, Business/ Communications degree or closely related field
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • 30-60% travel
  • Experience with Marketing Programs in excess of $100M fee a year plus
  • Works cooperatively with regional, department, technical and marketing managers and project staff
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign
  • Demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical San Francisco: $71,617 - $102,310 Minneapolis: $57,845 - $82,635 Denver: $60,599 - $86,570 Pennington: $63,354 - $90,505 New York: $68,863 - $98,375
