Job Overview

The Director, Asset Protection Programs, Training & Compliance shapes and executes enterprise-wide Asset Protection strategies across Macy's Stores and Supply Chain. They integrate policy development, training, compliance, shortage reduction, investigations, and brand protection initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. The Director partners with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, maintain legal compliance, and uphold Macy's brand promise while fostering a culture of accountability, diversity, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do



  • Lead the Asset Protection communication strategy, ensuring consistent messaging and awareness across the organization.
  • Establish and maintain AP policies, standards, and best practices aligned with company objectives and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with merchant and leased partners to drive enterprise-wide shortage reduction, fraud prevention, and operational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and Diversity teams to ensure compliance and address AP-related incidents and policy violations.
  • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive AP training programs for central, store, and supply chain teams.
  • Integrate AP standards into onboarding and ongoing training in collaboration with Learning & Development partners.
  • Explore innovative methods and technology to enhance training efficiency, engagement, and effectiveness.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to AP procedures and processes across all locations.
  • Administer compliance strategies, including PACS, and manage CBOR incidents.
  • Serve as a liaison with Legal on AP conduct, customer experience matters, and investigations.
  • Ensure thorough documentation, maintain case quality, and uphold legal standards in all investigations and compliance activities.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Collaboration & Relationship Building: Ability to partner effectively with regional leadership, AP peers, merchants, leased partners, Legal, HR, and Diversity teams to ensure consistent execution of AP initiatives and compliance standards.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and build strong relationships across functions, both in-person and virtually.

Leadership & Negotiation: Demonstrated leadership experience, including guiding teams, influencing stakeholders, and negotiating to achieve desired outcomes.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to engage with diverse groups, communicate effectively, and foster positive relationships with colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders.

Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Proficiency in identifying issues quickly, developing solutions, and leveraging data, reporting, and trend analysis to inform AP strategies.

Investigative Expertise: Experience in lead generation, case development, investigative interviews, and utilizing exception reporting to detect and mitigate risks.

Training & Development: Skilled at designing, delivering, and overseeing AP training programs for all levels of the organization; ensures compliance with AP training standards.

Adaptability & Initiative: Resourceful, self-motivated, and able to work independently or collaboratively; flexible in responding to changing priorities and environments.

Performance Management & Motivation: Ability to monitor performance, hold teams accountable, and motivate employees to exceed goals while driving operational excellence.

Integrity & Professionalism: Demonstrates the highest standards of integrity, ethical judgment, and professionalism in all activities.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 2+ years of prior leadership experience.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Able to sustain extended periods of CCTV and/or PC screens to facilitate surveillance or analysis.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
  • Able to travel within division/market of responsibility with periodic need to travel overnight based on the needs of the business. Position requires regular physical presence in Macy's store locations, with an opportunity for remote work, when needed.
