Position Overview

The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the KENW Producers/Directors, the Production Assistant is responsible for helping produce television programs for broadcast on KENW-TV, as well as for national distribution and syndication.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a high-level customer service in all interactions with all interactions with students, staff and members of the public.
  • Provide production support for television projects in both studio and field environments
  • Assist with video recording, post-production editing, and preparation of broadcast-ready content
  • Support the creation of promotional and fundraising materials in collaboration with the Development and Promotion department.
  • Participate in fundraising activities to help ensure smooth execution and successful outcomes
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization and operational readiness of editing suites and television studios, ensuring equipment is properly cared for and in good working condition
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in broadcasting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in broadcasting.
Must have a valid and current Drivers License with the ability to obtain a New Mexico Drivers License within 30 days of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of non-linear audio and video editing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of camera and audio equipment for studio and field production.
  • Ability to learn and follow University policies, procedures and organizational structures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous demeanor with staff, students and the general public.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination and teamwork skills

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is generally performed during normal work hours; however, weekend and evening work are sometimes required.
  • Work often requires climbing ladders and working at heights to adjust lights, camera, or access mobile production vehicles and camera platforms.
  • This position requires the ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Physical demands include reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
