Registered Nurse Radiation Oncology Full Time 87718BR Job Summary Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse (AN) or Charge Nurse, the Clinical Nurse II (CNII) is responsible for providing skilled and comprehensive nursing care to Radiation Oncology patients with a wide variety of oncological and/or disease related problems seen for consultation, treatment, and follow-up. Through application of the nursing process, the CNII provides direct care and implements plans for continuity and coordination of patient care with other members of the patient's health care team. In collaboration with the AN, the CNII provides appropriate guidance and supervision for ancillary nursing personnel and participates in orientation of new medical and/or technical personnel. Responsibilities include compliance with Medical Center and departmental Policies and Procedures, Environmental Safety, House and Telephone Standards, compliance with all regulatory agency requirements. The position may involve travel between all UCSF Radiation Oncology sites. The hours are generally daytime but may vary with start times from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and end times may vary from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The position may occasionally involve a few hours of on-call at the end of each day. This role will be primarily at our Mission Bay Campus working four 8-hour days M-F in our HDR Brachytherapy Procedure Suite, but will include working in the ambulatory clinic as well at any of our UCSF Health Radiation Oncology locations. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate group of physicians who are a pleasure to work with. The Brachytherapy procedure is performed primarily in the Rad Onc department with urgent cases occasionally added to the Adult OR. When the procedure is performed in the department, often there us optimal patient experience due to the decreased overall length of the procedure day. The CNII will perform pre-procedure screening/assessments; assist the Anesthesiologist and the Radiation Oncologist during the procedure; recover the patient post anesthesia; prepare the patient for discharge home or admission per instruction/ protocol and follow up with patients after their visit. Ideal candidates will have a procedural, OR, PACU, ICU or ED skill set/background. In addition to the HDR procedure, the nurses support the daily radiation patients by managing their side effects, dressing changes, teaching, explaining, advocating for the patients' needs, answering questions, navigating them to the appropriate providers, and providing emotional support. Many patients come daily M-F for several weeks, and the nurses have opportunity to build therapeutic relationships with the patients. The work environment is a mix between ambulatory, inpatient and procedural nursing. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $93.47 - $120.11 (Hourly Rate).
