Job Description




As a Security Officer - Alarm Dispatch Desk in Newport News, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As a Dispatch Officer with Allied Universal at a busy manufacturing and industrial location, you will monitor security-related alarms and cameras, coordinate responses, and communicate clearly with onsite teams and visitors. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help to deter incidents, and document activity using a computer and/or tablet. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by supporting site security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at an industrial location.
  • Operate the dispatch post by monitoring cameras, alarms, access control systems, phones, and radios; route calls and requests to appropriate personnel and/or responders.
  • Receive and prioritize incident reports, coordinate response actions, and document activity in logs and required reporting systems in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around production areas, shipping and receiving zones, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and/or identify hazards or irregular conditions.
  • Support traffic flow and access management for employees, contractors, and deliveries by verifying authorization, issuing directions, and communicating gate and dock activity to site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
