Summary

The Instructor II/ Senior Instructor is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating effective training programs that support business goals and ensure personnel are trained safely and proficiently. This role ensures all training aligns with site procedures, industry standards, and any applicable apprenticeship program requirements.


The Senior Instructor also provides leadership, guidance, and support to junior instructors, helping build instructional capability across the team. In addition, this position leads the development and implementation of training initiatives that enhance workforce readiness and drive operational excellence.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs that meet business and compliance needs.
  • Deliver highquality training in a safe, effective, and engaging manner.
  • Ensure alignment with site procedures, industry standards, and apprenticeship program requirements.
  • Provide mentorship, leadership, and support to lowerlevel instructors.
  • Develop and lead training initiatives that support business objectives and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven working knowledge of systematic approach to training.
  • Must possess technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in PC software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel frequently to statewide APS locations.



Instructor II




  • AA/AS degree or educational equivalent in training related field and two years of experience in course development and training delivery
  • Three years CPR, Operator or Journeyman SME experience can be used as a minimum requirement in lieu of course development/training delivery experience



Instructor Sr.




  • AA/AS degree or educational equivalent in training related field plus four (4) years of direct experience in course development and training delivery.
  • Seven (7) years CPR or Operator SME experience can be used as a minimum requirement in lieu of course development/training delivery experience for CPR or Operator training positions.



Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:



  • Prior experience in the Utility industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with course development tools such as Lectora, Articulate, Captivate or similar products.
  • Experience in instructional design and delivery of instructor-led in person or virtual and self-paced materials.
  • Understands adult learning concepts and designs robust solutions to target various learning styles

Major Accountabilities

1) Designs, develops and conducts training classes and develops materials to support new and incumbent employees in a variety of safety and or technical skills. Develops and conducts training courses relative to the electric utility industry including industry events, lessons learned and human performance improvement initiatives. 2) Analyze, design, develop and implement training programs in accordance with appropriate regulations and standards with a systematic approach to training. May include the design and delivery of apprenticeship programs. 3) Supports activities of other teams and external customers to ensure overall training needs are met. 4) Evaluate and analyze training materials and modify/enhance when needed. Conduct evaluations of training 5) Facilitates training program administration; may include apprenticeship training administration. 6) Conducts evaluation and remediation (when required) of student performance. 7) May assist Leader with Apprentice rotation entrance/exit interviews and field visits to ensure training effectiveness. 8) Promote training/business partnership by developing professional rapport with all levels of employees and leaders 9) Provides guidance and support to business management and CAP/HP management on training related issues


10) Must maintain instructor qualifications and technical proficiency in the assigned discipline. 11) Assists in formal training assessments and evaluations at a Business Unit level.
