Salary Range: **$100,000 to $175,000 per year

** Starting salary is based on minimum education and years of experience and increases based on education and/or experience.

WOOD Federal Solutions is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to support a large, complex network environment comprised of geographically distributed and air-gapped systems. This role supports mission-critical operations by delivering reliable system administration, infrastructure sustainment, and security-focused solutions across multiple independent domains.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-security environments with complex infrastructure, multiple authentication boundaries, and diverse storage and network architectures. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can adapt quickly, troubleshoot effectively, and work collaboratively with engineers, developers, and operational stakeholders to ensure systems remain secure, available, and optimized.

This role is well-suited for an energetic and driven systems administrator who enjoys tackling challenging environments and supporting evolving operational needs.

Security Clearance Requirements:

This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.



Responsibilities

    Provide system administration support for large, complex, and geographically distributed environments, including air-gapped systems with independent domains.
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain servers, workstations, applications, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Support system engineering requests by implementing and sustaining solutions that meet operational requirements.
  • Upgrade, patch, and maintain systems to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Ensure server and desktop configurations are optimized, stable, and operating efficiently.
  • Perform system troubleshooting to identify and resolve hardware, software, and performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct security management activities, including vulnerability mitigation, configuration hardening, certificate management, and compliance support.
  • Administer and sustain systems that provide web-based applications for information storage, sharing, and distribution.
  • Create and maintain complex server enclaves, including:
    • Reviewing system scanning reports
    • Applying patches and updates
    • Managing certificate renewals
    • Supporting vulnerability assessments
    • Administering Active Directory configurations
  • Respond to system administration, operations, and maintenance issues and develop re-work or remediation solutions.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate, and detailed documentation of complex server and network environments to support incident resolution and continuity.
  • Communicate with users and external support personnel regarding system outages, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide input and recommendations to management regarding issue resolution, system improvements, and operational risk.
  • Support occasional day or short-duration travel, as required.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Must have experience as a systems administrator providing direct support to end users and technical staff (developers, testers, engineers, etc.).
  • Must be proficient with Windows Server, 2016, 2019, and Active Directory.
  • Must have experience with Linux and Microsoft-based servers and workstations.
  • Must have experience with OS and Application Hardening to include DISA, Best Practices, and High Assurance environments.
  • Must have experience with software/hardware deployment, patches, and operating systems, and basic system backup and restore functions.
  • Must have experience with and/or have knowledge of Red Hat 7 and 8, and VMWare.
  • Must have experience with Apache Tomcat, IIS, and/or SQL server database.
  • Must have experience documenting and providing information for security accreditation and certification.
  • Must have a solid understanding of advanced security protocols and standards.
  • Must have experience with Network Security Technologies (e.g. Multiple Domain, PKI, SSP, and Vulnerability Assessment).
  • Must have experience with both Client and Server virtualization environments.
  • Must have experience with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and reimaging hardware.
  • Must have experience with disk arrays, PowerShell and PowerCLI, KVMs.
  • Must have knowledge of PKI systems which use HSMs.
  • Knowledge of NTP servers for time synchronization.
  • Must have experience optimizing system operations.
  • Must have a solid understanding of information security principles and practices.
  • Must have experience with or familiarity with software and security architectures.
  • Must be able to support occasional day or short duration travel, if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge building from zero, configuring and maintaining large, distributed Trellix ePO environments.
  • SALT and Python scripting experience.
