Job Summary

This position is responsible for the management and administration of the Electric Operations & Public Safety Programs for Houston Electric. As a Safety Manager, you will work with operations and other stakeholders to integrate various safety programs and initiatives in the operating strategies of the Company. You will also, promote a culture of safety across the organization, develop, implement, and review policies and programs, support the implementation of corrective and hazard mitigation actions, and work to establish a safe workplace in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Essential Functions

* Lead and manage daily facility operations across assigned corporate and operational locations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient work environments.

* Oversee facility maintenance programs, building systems, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.

* Manage real estate activities including leases, acquisitions, renewals, relocations, and dispositions in coordination with Legal, Finance, and external partners.

* Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for facilities and real estate, ensuring cost control and alignment with business priorities.

* Serve as primary point of contact for facilitiesrelated vendors and service providers; negotiate contracts and monitor performance and service level agreements.

* Partner with business leaders on space planning, occupancy optimization, and workplace strategy.

* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to facilities, safety, environmental, and building codes.

* Lead and support facility improvement and capital projects, including renovations, expansions, and relocations.

* Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and standards related to facility and real estate operations.

* Promote a culture of safety, service, and continuous improvement within the Facilities organization.

* Provide regular reporting and analysis on facility performance, costs, risks, and operational metrics.

* Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and indirect resources to support organizational effectiveness.

Educational Description

Requires a bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
In lieu of a degree, equivalent experience in facility operations or real estate management may be considered.

Experience



  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in facilities management, real estate operations, or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a lead or people management role is required.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and capital projects is required.
  • Experience within a utility, energy, industrial, or similarly regulated environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of facility operations, building systems, and real estate management practices.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes, safety standards, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, analyze costs, and drive responsible financial decisions.
  • Ability to lead crossfunctional initiatives and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to leadership and business partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including coaching, developing staff, and fostering a teamoriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams); familiarity with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
