National Grid is hiring a Lead Product Manager. This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per month in one of our offices. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Lead Product Manager to guide the definition and delivery of a new Gas Transportation Information System (GTIS) application. This new solution will manage all US-based National Grid Gas Retail Choice programs and replace our existing GTIS solution to better support functional enhancements, support updated tariff requirements, improve user experience to drive productivity, and increase scalability.

The GTIS solution will be developed in collaboration with a third-party partner so the ability to work across company lines as well as across functions will be key to success. A first phase of the new system was recently deployed into our Massachusetts jurisdiction - development and deployment into our Upstate and Downstate New York regions and post-deployment enhancement is the current and future project focus.

Key Accountabilities

Product definition and development

You will:

  • Own the solution vision and roadmap, leveraging data-driven insights and cross-functional perspectives to collaboratively define the product experience
  • Manage the GTIS Product roadmap in collaboration with business stakeholders, engineering and other shared services teams
  • Set team expectations and facilitate program increment (PI) planning ensuring there's clear definition of target outcomes and required work to achieve those outcomes and that all cross functional contributors are aligned
  • Ensure epics and features are clear including robust acceptance criteria and actionable work definition for design and technology partners. Guide teams in the development of stories where needed ensuring a strong foundation, structure and hierarchy of work
  • Prioritize work based on clear criteria; facilitate trade off priorities when needed to ensure realization of value in alignment with stakeholders and delivery commitments
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in delivery, design, and engineering to ensure their work is unambiguous and unblocked
  • Facilitate incremental and E2E user acceptance testing ensuring timely development of test cases, readiness of environments and data, and effective execution, defect resolution, and sign off
  • Monitor team capacity and velocity; identify areas to improve and guide implementation of improvements

Product performance

You will:

  • Lead definition of a product performance framework attributable to target business outcomes
  • Collaborate with design and engineering to ensure user experience and engineering metrics are incorporated into the product performance framework as appropriate

Communication and engagement

You will:

  • Build buy-in and trust for the team's work across stakeholders and ensure expectations are well-managed
  • Collaborate with design and others to craft and proactively share a customer-first product story
  • Partner with delivery (project management) on program level communications
  • Review and promote product release notes

Team operations and development

You will:

  • Work with scrum masters and others to ensure your team is inspired and engaged
  • Drive a positive, constructive and energetic team culture
  • Coordinate with third-party partners to ensure responsibilities and work are clear
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure work delivery is timely and on budget
  • Mentor junior team members as appropriate
  • Act as a servant leader
Qualifications
  • 6+ years product management experience
  • 4+ years delivering in a cross-functional, multi-squad product model
  • 2+ years people management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable creative and critical thinking
  • The capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative, and effective problem-solving

Brooklyn: $161K - $189K a year

Waltham: $150K - $176K a year

Syracuse: $133K - $157K a year
