Job Summary

  • Provide technical and process assistance to the Manufacturing department

  • Interface between Research and Development and Manufacturing representatives in order to improve efficiencies in the manufacturing process

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare five-gallon Research and Development scale-up batches, including the monitoring of first-run batches and the analysis and correction of problem batches.

  • Check and approve formulas prior to production, and analyze and correct problem batches.

  • Investigate formula corrective actions by making changes in orders and adding and entering data specifications.

  • Train production personnel in process systems and provide laboratory support to all facilities.

  • Analyze current process systems, recommend and assist in the implementation of process improvements, and write procedures.

  • Complete assignments as part of process improvement projects.

  • Participate in design of new process systems.

  • Prepare and present various reports.

  • Assist Research and Development in the creation of process improvements and in the formulation of plant capabilities.

  • Assist Manufacturing in resolving problems throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Ability to work on weekends as needed and flexibility to shift schedule changes

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience

  • Considerable experience in chemical engineering, operations research or process management, preferably involving paint manufacturing processes

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of chemical properties, manufacturing processes and R&D development practices

  • Considerable knowledge of paint and products, including paint and coatings formulations and the quality specifications of raw materials

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suites and/or software related to job functions (manufacturing operations and integrated purchasing software)

  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment

  • Ability to analyze data and work independently

  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work as scheduled

  • Ability to communicate effectively

Company: Behr Paint Company Shift 1 (United States of America) Full time Hiring Range: $62,600.00 - $98,340.00 USD Actual compensation may vary based on various factors including experience, education, geographic location, and/or skills.
