Kiwa North America is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to support our legal team with a wide range of legal tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal research, drafting, and reviewing documents, managing case files, contracts review and negotiation. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of our legal department and requires a professional with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calculate quarterly and annual tax provisions and update Excel models to integrate newly acquired entities throughout the year
- Coordinate with local accounting teams to gather support documentations for U.S. tax provisions
- Assist in reviewing federal and state income returns prepared by external CPA firm
- Collect and organize financial data required for property tax compliance filings
- Collaborate with accounting and business unites across the U.S. group to compile information needed by EY for tax compliances, including extension, returns, and estimated quarterly payments
- Maintain and update tax calendars daily to ensure all filings deadlines are met
- Respond to federal, state, and local tax notices and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Apply the knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements within a global organizational structure
- Research and analyze federal, state, and local tax laws, monitoring legislative changes that may impact the business
- Support the Tax Director with various tax-related projects as needed
- Other relevant tax topics as needed
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Taxation, or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or master's degree in accounting or taxation preferred
- 5+ years' experience, preferably with exposure to a public accounting firm and experience in a multinational corporation with exposure to the Professional Services Industry
- Familiarity with tax software, databases and global ERP
- Prior exposure to Internal Global corporations
- Advanced user of Excel, ability to create and maintain tax calculation models
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Multi-tasker with an ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Self-starter, proactive and focused in adding value to the organization and the multiple stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
