The Position
A healthier future. It's what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That's what makes us Roche. Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche's Research and Early Development organisations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximising these opportunities. The new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Scientist in Computational Biology to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary group at the intersection of Genentech's Computational Sciences, Discovery Immunology, Ophthalmology, and Translational Medicine departments. This role offers the opportunity to contribute end-to-end across the drug development lifecycle, spanning target and biomarker discovery through clinical development and translational strategy. The successful candidate will design and analyze large-scale multi-omic datasets at both the bulk and single-cell levels, from preclinical models to patient samples, to generate insights that directly inform both early discovery decisions and clinical development within Genentech's immunology pipeline, with a focus on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Working closely with experimental, clinical, computational, and AI/ML scientists, you will integrate molecular, clinical, and phenotypic data to advance understanding of disease biology, mechanisms of action, and patient heterogeneity, enabling forward and reverse translation between the clinic and the lab.
