Job Description: Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. seeks a Senior Telecoms Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA, to be responsible for designing, planning, executing, directing, and coordinating all Telecoms activities related to design, installation, testing and commissioning, data processing, computer programming, and electronic engineering to ensure the successful execution of project requirements. This is a hybrid office/work-from-home position within the United States, but the employee must live within commuting distance of the office in Pittsburgh, PA. Accountabilities Specific duties include: (1) ensuring all Telecoms activities align with contractual obligations and company standards and overseeing the efficient management and integration of each stage of the project lifecycle; (2) performing effective identification and resolution of interfaces between various electronic engineering subsystems, including but not limited to Signaling, CW, Rolling Stock, interlocking and other key systems, to ensure seamless integration; (3) ensuring that all design interface requirements are met in alignment with the project design schedule, proactively managing any challenges that arise to minimize disruptions and ensure the successful delivery of the project; (4) overseeing the design process for telecom technology (Preliminary Design, Detailed Design, and Installation Design); (5) ensuring that all design stages are executed in full compliance with the project's design schedule and meeting the required electronic engineering specifications; (6) verifying that the designs conform to company standards and industry regulations and conducting RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) analysis to assess and optimize system performance; (7) coordinating cross-functional teams, monitoring progress, and addressing technical challenges to keep projects on track; (8) optimizing engineering processes to ensure successful testing and commissioning of each telecom technology; (9) reviewing and evaluating the verification process of electronic engineering activities to confirm that the issued documents adhere to the specifications outlined in the Verification and Validation (V&V) Plan; (10) providing guidance and support in troubleshooting and resolving any discrepancies and ensuring that all system designs and implementations are thoroughly verified before final operation; (11) optimizing the design process and ensuring that our standard designs are continuously updated and aligned with the latest industry trends and innovations; (12) researching emerging technologies, analyzing their potential impact, and incorporating them into our existing systems and processes; (13) evaluating the performance and effectiveness of new technologies, recommending adjustments, and facilitating the adoption of innovations that enhance system efficiency, reliability, and overall performance; (14) configuring, programming, and installing hardware equipment while ensuring seamless integration into the final system; (15) evaluating design specifications, testing system functionality, and making adjustments to implement effective technical solutions to ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure; and (16) overseeing the installation, updating, and maintenance of all production technologies to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This is a hybrid office/work-from-home position within the United States, but the employee must live within commuting distance of the office in Pittsburgh, PA. Required Skills/ Knowledge Experience must include: (1) railway control systems, design for security systems, software integration, regulatory compliance, and system optimization to enhance safety, efficiency, and digital transformation; (2) design integration, system validation, and regulatory compliance within the railway sector; (3) ensuring the end-to-end design process (preliminary design, detail design, and installation design) for telecom technology is in alignment with the project design schedule; (4) designing telecommunication systems, interfacing with railway signaling, and network infrastructure; (5) assigning, reviewing, and assessing technical documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines; (6) analyzing and integrating new innovations into standard design processes to ensure that engineering solutions align with industry advancements, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements; (7) researching emerging technologies, implementing best practices, and optimizing system designs to enhance efficiency, safety, and performance in railway telecom and electronic engineering projects; (8) overseeing the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of production technologies; and (9) coordinating with teams and vendors. Education/Qualifications (1) Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Science, or Electronics Engineering and (2) Five years of experience as a Senior Engineer in a railway telecommunications engineering position.
